Dollar Tree may still be called Dollar Tree but it remains so in name only, as the bargain chain will be raising its baseline price to $1.25 due to inflation.

“Our Dollar Tree pricing tests have demonstrated broad consumer acceptance of the new price point and excitement about the additional offerings and extreme value we will be able to provide,” Dollar Tree President and CEO Michael Witynski said in a statement. “Accordingly, we have begun rolling out the $1.25 price point at all Dollar Tree stores nationwide.”

Dollar Tree was known for keeping all its offerings at a $1 price point despite some items costing more. But, thanks to Bidenflation, that is no longer sustainable.

Luckily for the chain, its loyal customers are understanding of the change, according to NBC News.

“I think if there are specific items that people are used to buying for a dollar, like soda or a candy bar, it could be a shock to have a higher price, but at the same time, I don’t know that people will riot,” Sucharita Kodali, a vice president and principal analyst at Forrester Research said. “Most people see it as a quarter, not as 25 percent inflation.”

The change in price point is not expected to result in the chain changing its brand name.

But, who knows? We still have three years of Biden left.

All my brass and bullet bins came from dollar tree. We get our floor cleaner from them too. The exact product at Walmart is almost 4 bucks.

Around here Dollar General has been popping up all over. Funny thing is they put them in very small towns all over the place, most are so small they don't even have a convenience store or gas station. Towns like Altona, Bloomingdale, Cadyville NY and quite a few others. For fun check them out on a map. Maybe it's a brilliant marketing idea giving these small towns a store but most of these towns lay just on the outskirts of other larger towns that have most or all of the other stores you would need. They just opened one a few miles up the road from me and a friend/ex co-worker sold them his house so they could build there. The process started right before covid hit when they made him an offer he couldn't refuse but covid stalled the process for a year or so. We actually hauled his house away when they did the demo and they found asbestos in it so he dodged a bullet there. I told him i felt bad for hauling his house away and then he showed me a pic of the check they wrote him which was around 2.5 times what he payed for the house. One thing he told me he learned through the process was if these dollar store so semi OK business wise they are free and clear of a new build within a year. If they do really good it's 6 months or less.
