If it's not loaded and one in the tube it's a paperweight. I only carry guns that can be safely carried ready to fire.

My XD is normally cocked and locked being the design. I always deep a round in the chamber. My M1911 when I use to shoot it was cocked, locked and ready to rock.

I only carry at the farm or the range or when Im at my favorite fishin hole. I'm not completely in agreemet with the Carry Law's in Kansas yet, but there working on them, & should have things in order in few more months. :---
But When I do have a pistol on me, it is Cocked & Locked. :-B-:

My 1911s are always carried cocked and locked in the woods. My othe carry guns are double action autos so its not an issue.
