If so what type. I always try to carry a back up knife.

I have one made by Gerber called the Stud Gator. It has a rubber handle and is easy to hang on to.
Always though if while out walking I had a big dog encounter I would try to handle it with the knife instead of popping off a round in the city limits and freaking out all the neighbors.

Your thoughts??

I back-up my back-up with a back-up CRKT K.I.S.S. and I back that up with a little bitty Kershaw.

I have to be careful where I put them all, so I don't lean, too much.

I carry a knife, a little Spyderco Centofante, but it's not a "back up" for my pistol. It's tool, mainly used for opening boxes and bagels rather than bad guys. If I want to back up my Glock, I'll drop a P3AT in my pocket.

My daddy told me that there are two things a man should always, a clean handkerchief and a sharp knife.
I always carry a Spyderdo 3" blade with pocket clip, half smooth and half serrated. If all else fails, I've never had my Spyderco misfire. ;)

When out walking I carry my 26" Asp baton. A great anti dog, human, anything weapon. Always have my Seecamp .32 in my pocket, 6+1 Silvertips. I don't want a dog to get within knife blade distance, especially a pit bull. If a pit gets his jaws on you he won't turn loose without a lot of fight.

and my kershaw pocket knife
Thats a very interesting knife! What is the cost?
I assume it simpy straps to your leg inside a boot, is that correct?
You are looking at where I bought mine. It straps in the or on the boot if some prefer. I have been very impressed with this knife, great blade for the price :-B-:

Columbia River K&T Carson M-16 3 5/8" spear point or a CRKT Urban Shark 3" saber point for dress-up occasions. CRKT knives are a tremendous value for the money, I have a couple others, also, but these are my favorites.

I think a back up knife is essential. I have to use my back up knife daily,I am not warding off criminals but doing regular every day stuff :)

I usually carry a small knife with me. I dont really need it nor would it do much harm but it does help open boxes!
Thats funny!

I carry the knife when I go on walks and head into the woods on hikes, camping or other reasons. I might have that knife if I go out late at night or to a bad section of town. But during the day I don't have the knife and I don't always carry the gun. I know I should but I don't.

I do always have my gun and knife when if feel at risk and exposed!
