I couldn't have said it better myself.

Exactly. I would also never put pro-gun slogans on my vehicle. That's just begging someone to vandalize the hell out of it, and also invites criminals to break into your vehicle in hopes that there's a gun under a seat or in the glove box.

I agree..............

But I'm also sick and tired of the whole illegals issue. I've said it so many times - It was not the easiest thing for us to come to this country, it took a lot of money, and time to get to be a citizen. We pay taxes and we fit easily into society, and don't expect anyone to give us any special privileges. Being here, and being able to call myself a citizen of this great country is enough!

If anyone wants to come here - they need to be able to do the same. Pay their dues, fit in with the culture, and learn to speak the freakin' language!!!!

This from my blog, perhaps you'll appreciate it:

The illegal immigration issue is at the forefront of political debate. Right now, we have a President who is interested in having a guest worker program. Right now, we have a Senate that wants to grant amnesty and a path to citizenship for those who have come here illegally. Congress isn't too far behind. All We The People know is that the Powers That Be are in favor of surrendering our nation without a shot fired.

We The People are assured that enforcement of the borders will be a top priority. Unfortunately, We The People were sold this bag of goods back in the Reagan years, when we granted amnesty to millions of illegal aliens. Interestingly enough, the same snake oil salesman pushing hard for immigration reform now was the backbone of immigration reform over twenty years ago. That snake oil salesman goes by the name of Ted Kennedy. We The People should not buy this "deal" again.

We The People are told that it is just too expensive to round up the illegal aliens and deport them. We're told that it will cost We The People billions of dollars to locate the illegal aliens, offer them a trial, convict them, and deport them to their countries of origin.

We The People, for some reason, are never told what it would cost to not enforce our laws. The Powers That Be don't tell us that by not enforcing the laws, We The People have to pay for health care for illegal aliens. The Powers That Be don't tell us that we have to pay for education for illegal aliens. The Powers That Be don't tell us that we have to deal with rising crime rates due to the activity of illegal aliens. The Powers That Be don't tell us that we have to pay welfare costs for these illegal aliens. The Powers That Be don't tell us that illegal aliens will continually be shipping billions of dollars out of the country for their families back home. The Powers That Be don't bother telling us that terrorists know how porous our borders are and can come and go as they please.

We The People are told that it is unkind and heartless to round up the illegal aliens and deport them. We're told that We The People will break up families. We The People are told that these illegal aliens just want a better life, just like you and me, and that We The People would do the same thing to make a better life for ourselves and our families. The Powers That Be don't even call illegal aliens what they are - they're constantly referred to as Undocumented Workers.

The Powers That Be never tell We The People that when we incarcerate criminals for rape, murder, theft, assault, etc. that We The People split up families. Guess what? When you engage in criminal activity, you risk splitting up your family. If you want to limit the risk to splitting up your family, the best means of doing so is by following the law. The law starts with coming to our country legally, just like millions of law-abiding immigrants have done.

The solution to illegal immigration is simple. We already have laws on the books that are designed to prevent and enforce our borders. The problem is that we don't use our laws. Strangely enough, we view gun control the same way - we have thousands of gun control laws on the books but we don't use them - so instead of enforcing laws, we create new ones and hope that criminals willingly follow them.

What we do is we build a fence on the southern border. Yes, Mexico will complain. The only reason that Mexico complains is due to its humanitarian concerns. Mexico complains because Mexico depends on illegal aliens to send billions of dollars to their economy.

After the fence is built, we round up illegal aliens. You find them working at various jobs. You find them making routine traffic stops. When you find them, you give them a fair but speedy trial. The trial is speedy because we don't offer the opportunity for smoke-and-mirror games that immigration lawyers want to play. The suspected illegal alien provides some proof that he or she belongs here - legally - and they're let go. If they can't provide such documentation, then they are convicted.

After they are convicted illegal aliens, they are put on busses or trains and they are taken to the border fence. They are escorted to the other side of the fence and the gate locks behind them. By the way, we have Border Patrol agents at these gates to make sure people do not cross the border illegally.

It does not become the problem of We The People to make sure that these illegal aliens make it home - wherever that home is. Home might be in Mexico. Home might be in London. Home might be in Moscow. Home might be in Tehran. It just doesn't matter. They managed to find their way into the country, now they can find their way back to their country of origin.

When We The People allow illegal aliens to stay in this country, what message do we send to the millions who have gone through the long and expensive process of coming here legally? If I were a legal immigrant, or I was waiting in line to become a legal immigrant, I would read the message as Ha-ha! Too bad for you. You weren't smart enough to come here illegally!

When We The People allow illegal aliens to stay in this country, and we offer them a path to citizenship, and we offer them opportunities to bring their families - not their immediate families - with them, how exactly will that impact our society financially, socially and culturally? Why aren't the Powers That Be talking about these impacts?

...... and a good piece of writing! I enjoyed it, and agree with it wholeheartedly!
Thanks... and that explains your sense of humor. I known quite a few people from S.A. over the years and have found them to be some of the most pleasant (and humorous) people I've ever met.

Try this one, written a short time before...

I know it just happened. I knew it was going to happen. However, I can't believe it just happened.

The United States Senate just announced bipartisan agreement on its immigration reform bill. The House hasn't passed it at the time of this writing, but our esteemed Commander in Chief has hailed it as something wonderful. So, the only stumbling block for this becoming law is in the hands of Nancy Pelosi. In other words, it is going to pass, the president is going to sign it, and I'm just dumbfounded.

We have people in this country who have illegally crossed the border and are staying in this country illegally. These people are criminals.

Compare this to the people who have followed our laws and have waited patiently, sometimes for years, for their turn to come to this country legally. What message are we saying to these law-abiding, would-be immigrants and possibly future citizens? Sorry you had to wait. Meanwhile, because you weren't smart enough to cross our southern border illegally, you get to wait some more. Sorry for the inconvenience!

We're rewarding criminals because we're too lazy to do the right thing. The right thing to do is to round up the illegals as you find them and to deport them. Yes, it is a very expensive undertaking. But, it isn't any less expensive to make these people legal immigrants.

According to the terms of this bill, the United States is going to have high-tech enforcement measures. You're crazy if you believe this. What, tomorrow we're going to have high-tech measures when we don't have them today? We've already been threatening employers for hiring illegals, yet we do nothing. What exactly is going to change? We're going to threaten the employers some more? I'm sure they're shivering in their collective boots.

We're inviting these guest workers to stay in our country, and they'll have to go home after two years. Just how is this going to be enforced? We don't enforce the current laws on the books now. What makes anyone think we're going to enforce new laws when we don't enforce the old ones?

Our esteemed Senators keep saying that this bill will build stronger border enforcement. Of course, it only takes a vote from Democrats to gut any funding for enforcing the borders. Our esteemed Senators keep saying that this bill will treat people with respect.

Who exactly are we treating with respect? Criminals?

Ask those who have gone through the process or who are currently in midst of the process of coming her legally. My guess is that they're not feeling like they're being treated with respect.

I have no problems whatsoever with good, decent people coming to our nation to make a better lives for themselves and their families. I do, however, have a huge problem with rewarding people for breaking the law. We've just done exactly that. Shame on us!

SheNine,
Sounds like if you ever part with hubby you won't have a problem getting attention from the guys. You get enough and you're married to him. Hope he doesn't read this forum if he's the jealous type.
