So I'm pretty bored right now and have always been entertained by gun stories where you had to pull and/or shoot. So if anyone is willing to entertain me and everyone else that sees this with a good story, please feel free to post a comment with your story. :machinegun:

Join the NRA and read the magazine that comes to you. It has a page called "The Armed Citizen". There are several stories in there every month. Plus, you are helping a pro gun group helping to protect our 2nd Amendment rights.

Taking someones life would be a life-changing event for most of us, even if we had to do it to protect our own or the lives of loved-ones. Still, there are those who are compelled to read all the gory details. I relish the fact that we are made aware of "good" shootings as well as the media enhanced bad ones, but I can't say I'm anxious to read the blow-by-blow descriptions. That being said, I feel that Hollywood with its highly evolved special effects has raised blood and gore to an art form and desensitized the modern generation to the reality of violence. Back in the day, nothing could be worse than ones own imagination.

I don't think its a life changing experience, but its nothing anyone would want to dwell on. I don't think listening to such stories would help anyone prepare for a possible situation. I'd say practice, awareness, commitment (and luck) get most people through a shooting situation.

i got attacked by three opossums at my farm when i was walking with my cousin and had to draw quickly and shoot.... not joking. One came out of a bush running at me and i shot it, another came from behind the same bush growling and i shot it. then a third cam running at me from the side so i had to shoot it as well. its a story my cousin and i always talk about when we see each other. Anyone else around here ever been attacked by wildlife?

Did you have them checked for rabies?

Years ago I was 'attacked' by rabid skunks. A Ruger Single Six put an end to it.

Last year walking to my deer stand had a stand off with a coyote under my tree stand and did not have my 44mag loaded yet. he would not move and was just growling and howling from 10 feet did not come at me so I loaded and well no more Coyote but the heart was pumping early that morning. Oh and needless to say no deer.

"Entertaining" is hardly a word I would choose to use when reading about the possibility of taking a human life, even by necessity. Yes, I think it's good to read stories and learn from them and to be happy that an innocent was able to avoid assault and battery by a criminal.
