Joseph T. Vorisek 3 volume set titled The Breechloading Shotgun 1860-1940 has, in volume I two entries under the lead name of Clabrough.......Clabrough,Golcher &Co was actually 2 firms located in San Francisco and one of the principles of that union returned to his native Great britian ca 1871 and formed J.P. Clabrough & Bros of 89 Bath St. Birmingham, England. Meanwhile the Golcher portion of the San Fran partnership remained their and(buying a portion of the buisness ca 1883). He died in 1886 and his son took over and renamed the store Clabrough,Golcher & Co. This store sold both USA and British made SXS shotguns. I would check for proofmarks as the USA does NOT have a National Proofhouse and if your gun lacks proofs..it was made(likely) in the USA. The Clabrough & Johnstone partnership came about in GB whern when John P. Clabrough sold his interest to Douglas Vaughn Johnstone in 1893 Douglas continue to make shotguns until 1907. He introduced a new line of SXS in 1893 bearing the mark of Clabrough & Johnstone which they continued to make to 1937. There have been several locations of the co in GB the list: 1871: 89 Bath St. 1872-1899:8 Whittal St. 1900-1901: 7 1/2 St. Mary's Row 1902-1914: 3 Price St. 1915-1931: 16 & 17 Loveday St. and 1932 -1937: (1 & 92 Lower Loveday St..
