https://www.foxnews.com/us/billiona...ess-from-ny-to-florida-for-lower-taxes-report

Carl Icahn, the legendary investor, has told employees that he is moving his company from New York to Miami and a report said his decision to move is based on the Big Apple’s higher taxes.
Icahn, 83, whose net worth is about $20.4 billion, is set to move his home and business from the city due to the taxes, sources told Bloomberg. The report said that it is not uncommon for billionaires to settle in the state which is one of seven without a personal income tax. The report pointed to New York’s 8.82 percent rate.
President Trump’s 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Acts put a limit on federal deduction for state and local taxes, the report said.
The New York Post, which first reported on the upcoming move, reported that Icahn invited staffers to join him in Miami and offered a $50,000 “relocation benefit.” The paper reported that employees who want to stay in New York will be let go without severance. He has about 50 employees. Half reportedly took the offer.
“After spending my entire career in New York, while I certainly do not wish to retire, I’ve decided that at this point in my life I’d like to enjoy a warmer climate and a more casual pace year-round,” he wrote to employees, according to the Post.

Will there be any rich people left in New York to pay the taxes?
People do not like getting hosed and if there is a better place to protect your assets, they will go there.
Liberals have not figured that out yet, Bless their hearts.

NYC is going to end up in a world of hurt. Tax revenue is fleeing the city, while budget obligations keep on climbing. I suspect in the next 10 to 20 years, NYC will end up declaring bankruptcy.

Not at all Carl is actually a Trump supporter.
Big Bird DeBalsio is probably glad to see him leave and take his billions with him.
What a tool. Sometimes I find it hard to pick which one of these fools I would like to see on the debate stage with Trump.
Biden would forget who he was debating, Beto would just start crying, Booker could finally have his Spartacus moment .
Could be a pay per view event to pay down the national debt

So i wonder how many millions NY will lose because of this? Not only from him but half his employees are going too. Wonder why the other half didn't take the 50k bonus and leave NY?

Some may have family ties keeping them there; some might not like Miami's weather.

I just hope that Carl is a Republican and the employees that are moving with him also vote Republican. We certainly do not need any more liberals here in Miami.

Socialists always replace the revenue lost when the capitalists run with taxes on the very people they pretended to protect with their socialism.

The problem with the United States is that we continue to bail out socialist cities and states with Federal dollars.

Yeah i get that too which is one of several reasons keeping me in NY. owning a home versus renting is another obstacle being sometimes homes just don't sell as quickly as you hope they would. Renters, even with a lease can just pack up and go. Even with all that 50k, a chance to get away from tax sucking NY, snow etc would be very enticing. I hate the extreme heat as much as i hate the extreme cold but that's why they made beaches and air conditioning.

I moved from NYC to Atlanta (college) to Texas - 3 spots - to Colorado to North Dakota to Nevada to Florida...........I do miss certain things about each place I have lived, but there were enough down sides to warrant the move to no snow or subzero temps.
