Hey guys,

Starting my first AR-15 build but am getting frustrated with the fact that the only places I can find stripped lowers, uppers, stocks, LPK, UPK, barrels, BCG, etc. are online. Yes this is great as I can compare prices and find the best deal however, I want to at least get a feel for the products and ask questions to an experienced gun smith or worker that has experience in building ARs. This being said, does anyone know of a shop here is Phoenix, Arizona that A) Carries these items, and B) Has the knowledge to answer questions and take the time to talk to me?

Anything helps guys thank you,

-Chris

Mad Scientist:
-From what I have found, we wont be having another show till August, which doesnt work for me due to the fact that I want to finish the build before I go back to school. Also, those place become very crowded and I am the type of person that loves to learn about everything and i feel like they would not take the time to talk to me as in depth as i would want to go with it unless you have experienced otherwise?

Most gun stores sell only complete rifles. If you do find one that sells AR parts, they will likely only have one or two brands, such as Magpul, ATI, etc.

A gun show generally has a larger selection, due to the various vendors. Granted gun shows are crowded and you don't get the attention you want with vendors trying to help a lot of potential customers at once. However AR parts are standardize, so it boils down to a matter of personal taste and since you want a touchy, feel-y experience, a gun shows should get you hands on with a variety of parts manufacturers, so you can figure out what you like and don't like.

You can also, visit your local gun shop and look at complete rifles. Making notes of parts you like and dislike, such as a grips, handguards, muzzle brakes, etc.

If you have questions, we may be able to answer your questions ...... or their are a lot of AR videos on YouTube.
