I am looking to get a upper with a quad picatinny rail system, 20" barrel, chambered in 5.56 NATO, with a 1:9 twist. I am trying to stay relatively cheap. I keep finding thing 3 side m lock with picatinny rail on top, which I could make work but not what I am looking for. Any suggestions?

It's hard finding anything in stock these days. Buy a barrel, upper receiver, quad rail, etc, build your own.

It's just more expensive that way than what i was looking at. Honestly I've never owned an AR, so I am not familiar with all the neccessary parts.

It's a money sink. What you need, and what you want are two different things, Get one with all the goodies, and you'll just buy more expensive goodies and replace what you have. Never ends.

Building an upper is fairly simple and if you get adventurous there's plenty of places that will teach you how to do it. I recommend starting here at this builder site just to get familiar with the process and see if it's for you.
