AOC is calling for the decolonization of Puerto Rico.
First thing I agree with her on.
Let them pay their own way.

They can't make it now with billions in federal aid - what will happen is even more of them will move to NYC and keep her re-elected.
I have read that there are more Puerto Ricans living in NYC than living in Puerto Rico..

In 2017, Puerto Rico held a referendum on their status: 97% voted for statehood; 1.5% voted for independence; 1.3% voted to remain as is.
I thought the vote was 30% independence, 30% statehood and 30% stay the same.

I think
Puerto Rico should a independent country.

A referendum on the political status of Puerto Rico was held in Puerto Rico on June 11, 2017.[SUP][1][/SUP] The referendum had three options: becoming a state of the United States, independence/free association, or maintaining the current territorial status.[SUP][2][/SUP] Those who voted overwhelmingly chose statehood by 97%; turnout, however, was 23%, a historically low figure.[SUP][3][/SUP] This figure is attributed to a boycott led by the pro-status quo PPD party.[SUP][4][/SUP]

She’s so unbelievably stupid. Yes they want statehood. They will get so much more money than they are getting now. I say let them be an independent country.
I do want to form a new state. I want to split NJ into north Jersey and south jersey. I want Morris, Sussex, Warren and Hunterdon Counties to leave the state. Cut off the blood sucking DemocRat counties and DemocRat vermin form the counties that are carrying the state, but I digress.

What AOC wants to decolonize every State in the US so only the supreme government exist which the "Squad" controls. You notice she says it's the beginning of decolonization.

Sounds right:

Over half a million people voted in favour of the territory becoming a full state, with only 7,800 votes for free association or independence, and 6,800 votes for the current territorial status.

But eight out of ten voters did not bother to cast their vote ...
Although the idea is appealing, if we left - someone would take our place. That would not be good. I think AOC would hope for a socialist regime to come in and then push out buttons and create further division within the USA.

That's how things start....

There is, IMHO, only one valid question, here:

Does AOC stay up till the wee hours of the morning every night, thinking this dumbass crap up,
OR, do the ideas pop into her empty little skull, fully formed, when she wakes up, every morning?

Doesn't she have enough to worry about, in her own jurisdiction, without poking her nose into Puerto Rico ?

From what I hear none of her "ideas" are her own. She was just chosen as a mouth piece for her campaign mgr/chief of staff. Some trust fund baby named Saikat Chakrabarti.
He is the "brains and money" behind all this lunacy.

If you can make it there ...
New York City is a "life support system" for the United Nations!
Her lack of understanding about how governments and societies really work is the most frightening thing about her.

And withing six months of becoming independent, it will turn into another Cuban Style Communist nation, which, of course, is what she really wants.
"Her lack of understanding about how governments and societies really work is the most frightening thing about her."

Her lack of understanding is both amusing and frightening. But what is truly frightening is who put her into her position. She didn't just assume it. As her fellow "Squadie" Omar says, "some people did some thing", and "Presto!". she's a congress-critter.
I grew up (until age 7) in NYC. When riding the subway, the PRs scared us, not Blacks. You don't see Black gangs in West Side Story.

Forty (40) years ago, my wife took me on a date to Houston to see West Side Story as it toured the country before its performance on Broadway.

I'd never heard of it. :blush2:

As it progressed, I'm like, "So THAT'S where that song came from?" It was not until the end that I grokked it was a reboot of Romeo and Juliet.

I thoroughly enjoyed it.
