John M. Browning was born on January 21 [or 23 depending what source you use] 1855.

It is only fitting and proper that a person responsible for providing the means for defending our rights and freedom be appropriately recognized.

I therefore propose that January 21, 2008 be celebrated as John Moses Browning Day and that, since most of the kids will be off school that day, they be taken to a local gun shop to better appreciate the contribution of this truly great American

Next year we can celebrate on January 23, just to be fair.

That sounds like a very good idea, and as I work for USPS I think I have the day off. I'll have to talk to the local gun dealer in my area as he is closed on Mondays.

So, we need to take this proposal to all of the Repub candidates. They're all trying to endear themselves to the electorate and are usually only too willing to dole out "presents", maybe they would see the opportunity to show their support for the Second Amendment as well as for an American genius.
