The US has ramped up airlifts to evacuate more than 17,000 people in a day from Afghanistan and Joe Biden has finally ordered troops to rescue Americans outside Kabul airport in a race against time before the August 31 withdrawal deadline.

The President is under international pressure to extend the rescue mission as thousands of people trying to flee the Taliban remain stranded outside the airport.

Biden will join other G7 leaders for an emergency meeting later today to discuss the deadline after Nato begged the president to re-think his plan to avert a humanitarian disaster.

It comes as it was reported that CIA Director William Burns went to Kabul on Monday for a secret meeting with Taliban leader Abdul Ghani Baradar. The discussions were likely to have centered around the August 31 date, according to The Washington Post.

Military officials have warned Joe Biden he must decide whether to keep US troops in Afghanistan by Tuesday – otherwise they will miss his August 31 deadline to leave.

CNN reported that the withdrawal decision must come within hours, to give them time to remove all 5,800 US service personnel currently on the ground in Kabul, as well as their equipment and weaponry.

Any decision is likely to be made at the president’s daily security briefing, scheduled for 9am EST.

If Biden does decide on Tuesday that the August 31 withdrawal date is final, troops will spend just ‘a few more days’ evacuating Americans, as well as Afghans with special interest visas (SIVs).

I must be as slow as they said?
It just dawned on me while reading the current events.
Biden already abandoned every American and our allies in that country.
Then he was pressured to return troops and attempt an evacuation.

Joe Biden has now proven himself to be the worst president this country has even had. The damage from this disaster will haunt this country for decades. We are now much less safe. We are at the mercy of our enemies and have lost much of our respect in the world. The extent to to which we have been disgraced is not to be understated. It goes far beyond what is happening in Afghanistan.

Kameltoe and Pelosi are two reasons I can't jump onto the impeachment bandwagon. Get a competent Speaker of the House, then we can impeach Mr. Magoo and Kameltoe at the same time.

The US president, Joe Biden, rejected pleas from the UK for the humanitarian airlift to continue beyond 31 August at a virtual meeting of G7 leaders on Tuesday, triggering claims from Conservative MPs that the “special relationship” is over and that US-UK relations were “about to enter their lowest point since Suez”.
UK defence sources told the Guardian that
the US military is believed to need two to three days to close down its operations at Kabul airport,
and British troops want to be at least 24 hours ahead of that.

The Taliban said on Tuesday that they would block Afghans trying to leave the country from traveling to Kabul’s airport and would reject any plans to extend the deadline for U.S. troops to withdraw from Afghanistan by the end of this month.

Speaking at a news conference on Tuesday, Zabiullah Mujahid, a Taliban spokesman, noted that chaos at the airport remained a dangerous problem, and said the way to it was being closed to Afghan citizens to prevent people from joining the crowds.

“The road that ends at the Kabul airport has been blocked. Foreigners can go through it, but Afghans are not allowed to take the road,” Mujahid said, without clarifying how long that policy would be in effect.

He urged the crowds of Afghans thronging the airport in hopes of leaving the country to instead go home, saying that the Taliban would “guarantee their security,” and noted that there was no list of people targeted for reprisals.

I want to know who the F*** is asking the towelband permission to do anything in Afghanistan! If they get in the way, eliminate them. End of story. They can start by wiping that air base off the face of the earth.

Well they are the one's running the show now that we have grabbed our ankles and begged them permission to stay longer. Biden does not want another Mogadishu on his hands. People will remember American soldiers dragged naked through the streets of Kabul a lot more than Afghan interpreter's getting left behind. This wash a Cluster F from the start of the pull out. Biden is hoping if he ignores the situation the peoples short attention span will soon forget about it by the midterm elections. That is why he spent the majority of his presser Tuesday discussing his victory on spending trillions of dollars on we the people. Give then freebee's and they will forget. Barely a word on Kabul.

Multiple senior Chinese officials warned on Tuesday against any proposed “wanton sanctions” on the Taliban,
by the United States in the aftermath of the group’s takeover of Afghanistan.

Taliban leaders announced the country would rebrand as the “Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan”
and the Taliban would build a full government apparatus to replace the fallen republic as soon as possible.

Taliban leaders have spent much of the past year courting support from China, which borders Afghanistan is and America’s top geopolitical rival. Taliban spokesmen have enthusiastically expressed interest in having the Communist Party import its Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)

The Chinese state propaganda outlet Global Times cited the two most powerful voices in Chinese foreign policy, Foreign Minister Wang Yi and senior Politburo member Yang Jiechi,
as warning America in particular against any move to sanction the Taliban over its decades-long history of extreme human rights abuses, particularly against women.
The two leaders reportedly “condemned US’ wanton sanctions on Afghanistan, and called on the international community to help the nation to enhance its ability to achieve self-development.”

Yang, reportedly speaking at a meeting of several leaders of the BRICS countries
(Brazil, China, India, Russia, and South Africa), demanded the world
“should respect the will and choice of the Afghan people and encourage Afghanistan to build a broad and inclusive political structure.”

As with other Chinese officials making similar statements,
no evidence suggests that Yang explained what he meant by “will and choice of the Afghan people,”
given that no Afghans have voted for a Taliban government and no polls or other attempts at gauging popular sentiment suggest that the Taliban’s ouster of the legitimate government was the product of a decision by the majority of Afghan citizens.

“China and the Afghan Taliban have smooth and effective communication and consultation,”
spokesman Wang Wenbin told reporters. “China respects the Afghan people’s independent choice of their own future … and stands ready to continue to develop good-neighborliness, friendship and cooperation with Afghanistan.”

The day before, Wang urged the world to invest in the Taliban.

“The international community should encourage and work for the positive developments of the Afghan situation,
support peace and reconstruction in Afghanistan,” Wang advised,
“and help the nation to improve people’s livelihood and enhance its ability to achieve self-development. Wantonly slapping sanctions and exerting pressure solves no problem and will only be counterproductive.”
