I would like to throw in a little context of why they are doing this. it has to do with the failed no child left behind law for public schools where emotional reasoning is pushed instead of logic. The young generation people coming from system don't think primarily in logic. they think in emotional reasoning as replacing or trumping logic and facts.
"I feel like that gun is more dangerous than others so if we get rid of them we will be safer." This is NOT about left or right thinking. this is about lack of critical thinking. our no children left behind crowd have difficulty with critical thinking because they were taught to emotionally reason. This is not the lefts doing because it was corporate and business leaders who took control of the education system and wanted drones to fill their working ranks that did not question and ONLY follow instructions regardless of personal morals and ethics. (another cog in the machine. ) our educational leadership is not made of educators and teachers as it should be. .
You weren't too far off on the no child left behind initiatives. But to say that corporations are responsible for the dumbing down of the education system is completely off base and reeks of conspiracy theory crap.Actually its corporate and business leaders that took over or educational system, instead of critical thinking educators. All of these alternative learning is corporate in nature and function, that they are replacing public education with.
being that corporate and business is the biggest employers and thus wanted work forces that worked best for their business models. They do NOT want critical thinkers because they ask why or No I won't do that for this reason, etc.
Chomsky is right, though. You're incorrect. It appears that you're making an assessment way out of context based on a short, very limited insight by a linguist. Of which you and everyone else on this forum are not.Quote: Professor Noam Chomsky, called the father of modern linguistics, formulated the generative theory of language. According to his theory, the most basic form of language is a set of syntactic rules that is universal for all humans and that underlies the grammar of all human languages. We analyze and interpret our environment with words and sentences in a structured language. Oral and written language provides a set of rules that enables us to organize thoughts and construct logical meaning with our thoughts.
NO we don't, this is NOT natural for us, we are taught this by the people around us. We actually naturally communicate through gestures and body language. I should know, due to learning disability and hearing loss. language did not come easy to me.
If what this person claimed was fact then we would all be speaking the same language and thinking alike. We analyze communicate and learn through trial and error. we teach others what we learned eventually language came as a means to share that.
so anyone want to stick hand in fire? How did we learn not to do that? trial and error. and gestures taught to us by parents.
His way of thinking is we would be able to speak at birth. being language is the foundation.
Go read more about it and get an education about it before making such an assessment. The Stuff of Thought by Steven Pinker would be a good start, assuming you can understand his work.
