Default Wow i need to pratice!!

Went out shooting today. Did great with my 22 saturday night special and smith 22a. And my 380. But my 9mm and 40 and 45 bad lol. I do good from the bench with the larger calipers, But terrible free style. I need to work on getting over the recoil anticipation. I think that is my down fall.

I was doing real good with my .40 when that was all I shot, pistol wise. Now I have a Ruger 22/45 target .22, and that has really messed up my .40 DAO. Now it's spray and pray with that thing.

Practice only makes you a more experienced bad shot. You have to figure out what you're doing wrong, correct it, then practice shooting the correct way.

I was terrible with my .308 carbine until I figured out that the noise of the muzzle blast was getting to me. I was flinching and anticipating recoil that actually wasn't/isn't all that bad. Now I'm OK with it and it shoots just fine. Went through the same situation shooting a 9mm pistol after being accustomed to a .22 lr pistol. But that was my experience, which might not apply.

This is going to probably sound stupid, but it tightens up my groups.

You have heard of "going to your 'happy place' ". If I'm aggravated, or

    stressed, and I can't concentrate, I can't shoot for s***. I find I

have to quiet my mind, get my concentration, get "in the zone",

    and viola! Tight groups...

Anticipation and flinch are my biggest hurdles. I am getting better but have a ways to go. I can hit the 8x11 target paper all the time, but not constant in any groupings.

You can look online for a "Pistol Correction Target" and download and print for your next outing. It has helped me make some corrections i needed. Good luck

What I have learned about recoil is it is going to happen no matter what -- so let it. Learn to squeeze off your shot keeping focused on target. My .308 bolt and S&W M&P .40 have shown me.

It is still a scary thought as to how close we came to having Hillary Clinton as president of the USA.

Use the pad of your trigger finger. Concentrate on the front sight. Feel the trigger move to just before the breaking point. When it fires it should surprise you.

Some days we all just have a bad range day. Only way to fix it is to remember a bad day at the range beats a good day cutting the grass or shoveling snow.

Learn from it, determine what you did wrong and work to correct it next time.
To say that guns kill people is to say automobiles drive drunk and matches commit arson.
