Default Drilling for chokes Versa Max

    Hey

A local smith sucessfully drills shotgun barrels for chokes where I live.
He is mainly doing it on Mossberg 590 and these types of guns.

Im a lefty and the only Versa Max I can get is the one with the 28" barrel

I wanna shorten it to 20-21" to get a lefty tactical, which dont exist in any model in the market.

I havent asked my smith yet, cause I dont have the gun, so he cant now how much material the barrel has for this operation
And Remington wont give me the out and inner diameter of the Versa barrel

Can anyone who has a Versa measure it for me or make a good guess if it's possible?

Will cutting the barrel that short possibly affect the gas functioning?

    I don't think so.
The Versa Max got that self regulation system which regulats gas depending on shell length
Which also means the ports are basically in the beginning of the pipe

The Versa max exists in 20" inch barrels and I doubt that they have some adjustments
    probably same gas system
