Default First Range Visit with the New Gun

Took the G43x I got last night to the pistol range just to get a feel for it. Recoil isn't that much worse than the SD9, despite being a fair bit lighter in weight, it's a bit snappier (which I expected) but not unbearably so. I imagine the full-length grip helps mitigate some of the percieved recoil. In any case, the gun shoots straighter than I can, and I shoot marginally straighter with it. Pic of the target below, for size reference, the circle I put on it is roughly 3" in diameter. Shooting was done from a standing position at approximately 15yards with a total of 11 rounds fired

Nice i had some of my 9mm's out today. It was close to 50 degrees F here. Ran off 200 rounds. Shot both my 1911's my Canik my Ruger SR9 my Walther PPX and my Taurus PT111. I used to have a SD9VE too. Couldn't hit very well with it. Traded it towards one of my 1911's.

I didn't dislike my SD9VE, it just wasn't well suited for EDC, which is what I bought it for. I eventually want to get a full size 9 for shooting competitions, but there's other things higher on my priority list right now.

If i was going to compete i would not hesitate to use my Canik. It's a TP9SF. For a striker fired gun it really impressed me the 1st time i shot it. It caught me off guard how sweet the trigger was. Not sure how it would hold up under a lot of practice plus competing. But they are life time warranty. Also my 1911's i would consider too. They are both tac models not the standard GI models. All 3 guns group very well.

Not too familiar with Canik, I'll have to look into them. Used to have an FNS9 that I was rather fond of, wouldn't mind getting another FN for competition, that thing was a tack driver if there ever was one.

I did better than I expected, and will (theoretically) only get better with practice. Considering night sights in the future, but for now the standard sights are serviceable.

Hold that "11-shot" target to your chest and consider the "effect" if that had been a self-defense action.
