    Default Good Range Time!

Yesterday was sort of unique for NW Iowa in that the weather was really awesome for some range work, cool, sunny and a very slight breeze! I got really good results from my winter build (AR10) at 100 yards with some of my cheap range fodder that is landed up with 43.5 grains RE-15 with a 147 FMJBT. This is not exceptional ammo, but I have a few thousand of those bullets. Anyway, I shot one feeler round to verify scope zero (200 yd. zero) and the next four for effect and got under 1” with it! That surprised me (pleasantly) because I am still working through break in and using a very gritty mil spec trigger that I will replace soon. A little later I gave the 6.5 Creedmore a little exercise at about 265 yards and was pretty pleased with that five round group as well. I wish I always shot this good! It must be my new glasses! Oops! 165 not 265; wish we had more range, but...

Later here that morning I found these laying near one of the shooting benches. Not every day I find brass stripper clips laying around...ammo (8x57 Mauser) looked to be a little aged too.

Heading out soon myself. Just 22 and 223 light loads. Still need to be careful with my wrist. And nice shooting. A.W

never had a chance to mess with the ar10 platform......would like to check out the balance and the recoil impulse. Might make a purty good hog gun.

It is possible, even hopeful, that my wife and I will be moving to West Texas within a few months (if all the details work out), if it does come to pass maybe I can look you up and you can give mine a try and see what you think. I have no doubt you could terrorize hogs with it, but it is a might heavy.

I’ve never owned or even shot a 308. The AR10 could change that for me.ivebeen looking at them for a while but other things keep coming first. Oh well soon!
