Hey there, I have a smith and wesson sd9. I am having trouble with one of my magazines. The mag will not lock on the last shot unless I push up on the magazine. My other magazine is working flawlessly. From what I have been reading is that it could be a follower problem?!?!?! How do I fix that?

This is, unfortunately, a common issue with SD9 mags. If you manually lock the slide open and look down through the top with the magazine inserted, you'll notice that the follower doesn't quite move up far enough to engage the slide catch.

There are a couple of ways to remedy this, the easiest is to apply a (very) small dab of silicone to the recessed portion of the follower (where it should engage the carch). This extra material should then engage the catch, causing the slid to lock back on empty mag.

The second, and more mechanical, fix is to use a pair of pliers to slightly pry back the bent over portion of the metal housing. This allows the follower to travel up further, engaging the catch. However, this method is more risky and can potentially ruin your magazine, so I wouldn't reccomend it unless you are very good at working with metal.

EDIT: My SD9 that I traded awhile back did this with both the mags, cleaning and inspecting is never a bad idea, but I ended up having to be a bit more creative to fix it.
