    Default Colt Defender~getting better

I recently purchased a new Colt Defender in .45 ACP. Yes it's only a 3" barrel but this is a conceal gun for me and not a target weapon.
I found that the recoil spring had a feel of a two stage spring with the second stage being a harder pull back. I also did not like the way the plate on the springs was designed and replace the bushing and recoil assembly with a Kimber part #4000466. The first thing I noted is that the recoil spring assembly is much smoother without that second stronger stage I had with the Colt original part number. I think perhaps that the new part is a lighter spring too but I don't know for sure. It sure feels better and is made better.
Ordered some new smooth grips as the factory grips were knurled and a little hard against the bare skin as my holster offers no lining there. Perhaps I can find another holster I like better in the future.

If the spring is indeed lighter, aren’t you concerned about hard the slide is coming back? Just my first thought.

I thought about that but have not fired it since I got the new spring. Time will tell.
I still need to put another 100 or so rounds through it to finish breaking it in.
Needless to say, I still have the stock Colt stuff but this Kimber Ultra II was highly recommended to me to replace to stock Colt and I have not heard anyone complaining about problems that did it.
