Default How to Adjust rifle Scope

I bought a Winchester XPR sporter and a Burris scope. However, I can’t bore sight it to the point where I can see the target, it’s aiming too high. I tried putting a thin piece of metal to lower it and it was a temporary fix. Is there any good adjustable scope mounts available, or is there another way to permanently fix the problem?
This is the second scope I’ve tried

Default Greetings And Welcome To The Forum

Did you shoot it yet? How do you know your bore sight is accurate? If it's the second scope you tried it sounds like the rings are the problem. Is everything mounted properly and tightened.

What distance are you trying this at? What cartridge and ammo are you using? Did you adjust the scope with the turrets?

We bore sighted it by attaching the scope and then looking through the barrel at a target around 40 yards away and seeing if the sight picture matched that in the scope
The problem was we couldn’t get the two sight pictures to match without putting something under the back scope mount to lower the scope sight picture
I think everything was tight and attached correctly

That’s why I wanted adjustable scope mount so I could raise the back scope mount to lower the scope sight picture

There is (or at least was) such a thing as adjustable scope mounts, but have you adjusted the turret adjustment on the top of the scope? Have you fired it to see actual POI verses scope reticle?

I adjusted the top as far as it could go...I didn’t fire it because the sight picture was so different

Sorry, something else is wrong. I have scopes on rifles that are 30-40 years old. I started at 10 yards, then 25 yards; making sure everything was on paper. Only then did I move things back to 100 and then 200 yards

Do you have appropriate rings/mount for the XPR? I might be wrong, but I believe the front and rear rings are different height to properly align the scope on the XPR receiver. I would think it hard to mount the scope with the wrong rings...
