Default Help me fight flawed CCW issuance policies!

    Hi,

I was published in the North County Times the other day, a newspaper for the San Diego County (north county) residents of California. I invite you to read the article and BOTH post your comments online AND send a Letter to the Editor. I am pushing HARD for accelerated CCW issuance in this county having only my desire to survive a life-threatening attack as my "good cause." I would appreciate your support!

    Here is the link

    And here is the letter:

As I was filling in my application for a concealed weapons license, I ran across this:

State of California, Department of Justice

Standard Application for Carrying a Concealed Weapon License

    Section 7, Investigator's Interview Notes

If the Carrying a Concealed Weapon license is desired for self-protection, the protection of others, or for the protection of large sums of money or valuable property, you are required to explain and provide good cause for issuance of the license.

For example, has your life or property been threatened or jeopardized? Explain incidents and include dates, times, locations and names of police agencies to which these incidents were reported.

Details of Reason for Applicant desiring a CCW license must also be provided (use additional sheets if needed).

So ---- if I read this correctly, the mere fact that I feel my life is worth defending is not "good cause" to receive a permit. My life alone is not deemed to be of sufficient value to afford me, an honest, law-abiding citizen with a squeak- clean record, the means by which to defend myself against an imminent threat to my life that may appear at any moment in the future, without warning.

Someone has to have threatened me, and I would have had to report it. They are telling me that I need to show proof of a series of previous life-threatening situations in which I have, only by the grace of God, escaped while unarmed and defenseless, before they will allow me to have the means to defend myself.

I wonder, if I answer by listing all of the situations in California where some psycho walked into a public place and started blasting away at innocent unarmed civilians while police officers and deputy sheriffs were not around, would that constitute "good cause?"

I'd start with the McDonald's Massacre at San Ysidro, and work my way up the coast.

The audacity of this state, to tell me that I am not worthy of being trusted with the means to defend my own life! It's outrageous.

    Time to move!

California has gone over to the dark side, I am afraid. In the major metropolitan areas most of the permits have been pulled, I am told. Los Angeles and San Francisco are becoming like New York, Chicago and the state of NJ. Full of liberal voters and gun ownership is not on the agenda of the Socialist movement.

Many common weapons have been put on the list of banned assault weapons in California and thats a sad situation.

Politicians are of the opinion that the way to control the crime committed by the 2-5% criminals in the state is by oppressing the other 95 % of folks. Backwards thinking to be sure.

As they tighten the controls on the law abiding folks they loosen the controls on the criminals. Again, stupid liberal thinking.

The solution! Get the population to kick out all the gun control liberals and put in individuals that support the Constitution and Bill of Rights in our great country.

Only ONE of the responses on the website is negative, and the second one is just liberal sarcasm. When I called her on it, she came back with, "No sense of humor?" Typical liberal, when called on for saying something STUPID, they say, "Gosh, I was only joking ... can't you take a joke?"

Better News! One of the main reporters for the paper contacted me. I told him that I am trying to raise the money to publish a loner, more intense version of the letter, and he told me to hold off on spending the money for a few days. Maybe he's going to get the editor to publish it as a community service? Wouldn't THAT be something!

I commend you for doing this... for some reason I got the san diego county application, even though I'm in West San Bernardino County... I too think this 'explanation' section is total BS. Let me know if I can do anything to help you
The founding fathers had greater knowledge of Tyranny than any natural-born American citizen has seen to this day. They wrote the constitution as they did to protect all future American generations from this tyranny. The freedoms granted therein are granted, [read designed], to be exercised in order for Americans to continually thwart attempts of tyrannical takeover of their beloved ideology. Their America.

The difference between a Socialist and a Communist is that the Socialist doesn't have all the guns yet.

They sure are fighting a losing battle in CA. They need more members and money to get into the fight big time. In my humble opinion.
