Default MBNBC Boots Olbermann & Matthews from Anchor Spots

MSNBC tried a bold experiment this year by putting two politically incendiary hosts, [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and Chris Matthews, in the anchor chair to lead the cable news channel’s coverage of the election.
That experiment appears to be over.
After months of accusations of political bias and simmering animosity between MSNBC and its parent network [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], the channel decided over the weekend that the NBC News correspondent and MSNBC host [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] would anchor news coverage of the coming debates and election night. Mr. Olbermann and Mr. Matthews will remain as analysts during the coverage.

It couldn't have happened to a better pair of jerks.

However, the reason is ratings - if MSNBC was not running 8th in a 6 horse race, these two idiots would still be doing their schtick.

Whatever the reason, I support the network's decision.

IIRC Oberman was too self important for ESPN and went on to bigger and better.......

He and Dan Patrick deserved each other. As for Chris Matthews, the less said the better!

Damn, you mean that if I could insert my head entirely into my rectum and still make snide remarks, I could make $4M a year too!?

I read in another article that da' peacock is offering Chris "Shiver Up My Leg" Matthews a lesser amount on any new contract they sign with him. I mentioned in another thread that he's expected to head to Pennsylvania to challenge Arlen Specter's senate seat. Specter may be a RINO, but Matthews, good Lord...

A week or so ago, O'Reilly made some comment to whomever he was talking over at the moment, something to the effect that if Tom Brokaw would should stand up to NBC about the crap that occurs at pMSNBC, he could make a difference. I've thought about that. It may be idealistic, but I have to agree. Especially now, while NBC has him filling in for the late Tim Russert on "Meet the Press" and has resurrected Brokaw's good name and image to maintain the credibility of MTP, maybe he could. Then I woke up and realized that Mr. Brokaw, honorable man and decent journalist that he may be, didn't get to the position he holds by standing up to his employer. He got there with a great voice, decent looks, and the ability to read his script.

Agreed, but what do their ratings say about the viewership in America?

Just like left-leaning talk radio, it cannot stand on it's own as a product the American public is buying, even if it's heavily subsidized.

And here are CNN's ratings (see #25):

And this performance is in an environment where they are the only game in town, as many cable providers do not/will not carry Fox.
