Recall elections can and do happen but they are few and far between.

Here in NM, we've even had politicians who were arrested and convicted on DWI offenses but their constituents still vote for them next election.

    Crazy.

This demonstrates that a lot of our votes are not analyzing the qualifications of the politician in question, they may vote for an individual because he is good looking, or because his wife is pretty, or he likes dogs or cats, or appears to be a nice guy. etc, etc, etc. Most voters do not take the time to truly research if the politician is the best candidate for the job, it is a sad state of affairs, but it is true.

How many people know about Politics or who is running for office? Many don't care for it is a dirty job that is full of liars, cheats and criminals and they hope for the best. It's a man or woman ha s as good a chance for a vote only because it is a man or a woman and people will do anything or elect anyone to give them safety and food/shelter for free no matter whom it is.

I dare say 1/2 the population doesn't know about politics and don't vote either. Just leave me alone---until they get caught for something that was not intended to harm them but criminals.
People just don't want to get involved and will give up some of their freedoms for their sanity/safety.

There are no qualified politicians and there should be term limits just as there is for the President for if they do their jobs for the PEOPLE and not themselves or Party then they could get things done in a reasonable length of service or term/s.
