The vast majority of my country's problems today stem from one thing. A complete lack of personal responsibility. Communism/socialism thirves on this dearth of self sufficiency.

The difference between a Socialist and a Communist is that the Socialist doesn't have all the guns yet.

I'll disagree......rampant illegal drug use (self medicating to handle depression) is the main cause of this country's problems. For most of the depression, we can blame (IMNSHO), Madison Avenue. Folks are BOMBARDED by millions of ads about having "stuff". It is the classic "keeping up with the Jones', except folks can't. When you see folks making millions while you struggle to keep a minimum wage job, fueled by wealth envy stoked by the Socialist/NWO media, it isn't hard to see where this country went to hell. It started back in the 60s, BTW.

You've just described 'denial of reality' which goes hand in hand with 'lack of personal responsibility'.

"I don't have everything I want. Its the 'advertiser's' fault."

Nope! Its your fault. Anyone who focuses on what they don't have, instead of what they do have and on their immediate goals is bound to get 'depressed'. That depression is not Madison Avenue's fault. Its the individual's fault (lack of personal responsibility).

Minimum wage job? Hell, our economy is doing better than ever before. Good jobs are going begging. No jobs in your area? Move to where the jobs are. Find something you can do and do it better than anyone else.

It seems we've become a nation of shiftless, unfocused, irresponsible, lazy, whining, weak minded, losing quitters. At least the focus is those duds.

Absolutely no better way to say it than Popeye just did.
