Default Trump Conservatives Filling Notoriously Liberal 9th Circuit

    Eric Mack
    22 December 2019

Long considered the most liberal court in America, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals is far closer to be fair and balanced than ever, [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

When President Donald Trump took office in January 2017, Democrat-appointed judges held a 20-9 edge in the 9th Circuit, which made it a go-to court for Democrat challenges with a jurisdiction of 60 million Americans.

After the two most recent Trump confirmations this month, the Democrat-advantage is down to just three 16-13, according to the report.

President Trump had called the 9th Circuit, "a complete and total disaster" and a "big thorn in our side.

"Republicans politicize the judiciary so they can accomplish policy goals that they wouldn't be able to do through the democratically elected branches of government," Chris Kang of Demand Justice, a liberal activist group, told Politico.

It has been the court liberal activists have used to resist and obstruct the Trump administration on healthcare, contraception, abortion, immigration, the travel ban, and various other parts of the progressive agenda.

"The 9th Circuit is a very important circuit, and the presence of more conservative judges puts in peril all of American healthcare reform," Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., lamented to Politico.

The 1st Circuit in Boston and 3rd Circuit in Philadelphia have flipped to Republican majorities under President Trump, per the report.

"Forum shopping will be less attractive now that you have a basically balanced bench as far as Republican or Democratic nominees," Katie Glenn, government affairs counsel for Americans United for Life, told Politico.

Default Making The Judiciary Great Again: 1 of 4 Circuit Court Judges Are Trump Appointees

    MATT MARGOLIS
    12-22-2019

There are few things that really drive the point just how crucial the 2016 election was than to look at what Trump has accomplished with the judiciary. In just under three years, President Trump has, [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], "remade the federal judiciary, ensuring a conservative tilt for decades and cementing his legacy no matter the outcome of November’s election."

In addition to having two nominees on the Supreme, Trump nominees now make up 1 of every 4 U.S. circuit court judges. Thirteen district court judges were confirmed by the Senate in the past week alone. Trump has succeeded in revamping the infamously liberal 9th circuit, which is now, [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], "a whisker away from" from having a majority of Republican-nominated justices. Three circuit courts have flipped to conservative majorities under Trump.

In all, there are 187 Trump-appointed judges in the judiciary.

The 13 circuit courts are the second most powerful in the nation, serving as a last stop for appeals on lower court rulings, unless the case is taken up by the Supreme Court. So far, Trump has appointed 50 judges to circuit court benches. Comparatively, by this point in President Obama’s first term, he had confirmed 25. At the end of his eight years, he had appointed 55 circuit judges.Trump’s appointments have flipped three circuit courts to majority GOP-appointed judges, including the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit in New York. The president has also selected younger conservatives for these lifetime appointments, ensuring his impact is felt for many years.

While Senator Mitch McConnell is technically the architect of this conservative takeover of the judiciary, he should share credit with former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who, in 2013, nuked the filibuster, and changed the rules preventing Republicans from filibustering judicial nominations.

“You’ll regret this, and you may regret this a lot sooner than you think,” McConnell said about the rules change. And boy was he right. Republicans won control of the U.S. Senate in 2014, and still have that majority.

If Trump wins in November, there are two potential vacancies that could occur during his second term, both Ruth Bader Ginsberg and Stephen Breyer are Clinton-appointed justices who are over 80 years old. Ginsburg has had a series of health issues recently that have raised doubts about how much longer she'll be on the court.

I am sorry, but ANY judge - no matter WHAT side of the coin - that legislates form the bench deserves to lose their job, possibly serve prison, and have all decisions based on political views overturned....

Keep in mind, this is after President Trump has been in office for three years. Imagine what he can achieve with another five years as President?

It's one of the most important things he's been doing. But remember, the GOP has to hold the Senate or the Dems will obstruct confirmations even more.

I had said several times in this blog that the main reason I vote for Trump was because he would have the opportunity to appoint at least 2 new SCOTUS judges, the fact that he also has installed more than 150 constitutional oriented judges to federal courts is gravy to the cake.
On this particular subject, he has not let me down, and, for this reason I will be voting for him again.
