Default How does barrel shrouds make a firearm more deadly?

I am just trying to understand how some people come to the conclusion that a "safety feature", somehow makes a firearm more deadly. All the shroud is is a heat shield that keeps you from getting accidentally burned while holding the firearm. Or prevents a fire when you set the firearm down after it gets hot.

It doesn't make it deadly, but to the wienies who don't know anything, it makes the gun look "military". And things will only get worse, just wait until they once again, call high cap 9mm's "assault pistols". They have before.

why does that make me visualize The big "R" Assult pistols. But seriously could it maybe be related to holding on to the firearm longer and continue to shoot despite it being smoking hot. Where if it was a standard barrel grip, you would drop it after a certian point being its too hot?

Personly I suspect that none or most of the firearms used in mass shoots ever got hot enough to the point the firearm would of been dropped by the shooter for getting to hot. But then I don't have a large paractical knowledge base to make that assesment accurate. anyone else here know the answer to that?

My idea of a barrel shrouds purpose, is to protect the hand from touching the barrel, when it is hot. But it is mostly cosmetic on a lot of guns, it is for looks.
Whereas the grips on an M-16 really do protect the hand from intense heat. I have fired an full auto M-4 until the barrel smoked, and I could still hold onto it, using the grips..
When a lame brain anti gunner looks at a barrel shroud, they see evil intent or something. Because they have never fired a gun or anything.

    What are you talking about?

"A barrel shroud is a military feature of assault weapons that has no place on our streets. The only possible reason one would need a barrel shroud, which is just 'gunspeak' for heat shield, is to allow a mass shooter to continue shooting an assault weapon when the barrel is red hot from running through high capacity clip after high capacity clip. Like the shoulder-thing-that-goes-up, heat shields only serve to make assault weapons even more deadly and and these military style assualt rifles have no place on our streets", said Janet Shrill, spokesperson for Brady Bunch/Everytown for Bloomberg Misrepresentation/CNN.

"When the Old Dead White Guys granted us the right to hunt deer in the Constitution, there were no 'barrel shrouds' on muskets. This deadly new technology was never intended to be used by civilians when the government granted us the right to hunt for food. And, like, now that we have supermarkets and stuff, we don't even need muskets, let alone deadly barrel shrouds that are regularly used by racist mass shooters to make their assault weapons even more deadly," said Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez at her daily gun crime exploitation news conference today.

    There. That's how.

I wish all groups that accept large sums of cash to cover operating costs from bloomberg and "soros?" must be required to post in huge caps" this group is a front for bloomberg or brady , or etc gun confiscation innicitive"

You might need a shroud if you have one of those At 5:48

OMG! That video is a weapon of mass snowflake destruction. Sea levels will likely rise by several feet as snowflakes melt at the very sight...

A correction. The Constitution does not grant the use of guns, what it does is stops the government from restricting the ownership of guns. "shall not be infringed".
