Default Trump Ending Welfare-Dependent Immigration, Saving Taxpayers Billions

President Trump is set to save American taxpayers billions of dollars as his administration announces a new rule on Monday that will essentially ban welfare-dependent legal immigrants from permanently resettling in the United States.

A new regulation set to be published by the Trump administration will ensure that legal immigrants would be less likely to secure a permanent residency in the U.S. if they have used any forms of welfare in the past, including using subsidized healthcare services, food stamps, and public housing.

The regulation will be a boon for American taxpayers in the form of an [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] — the amount taxpayers spend every year on paying for the welfare, crime, and schooling costs of the country’s mass importation of 1.5 million new, mostly low-skilled legal immigrants.

The National Academies of Science released a report two years ago, noting that state and local American taxpayers are billed about $1,600 each year per immigrant to pay for their welfare, where immigrant households consume 33 percent more cash welfare than American citizen households.

A recent Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) study notes that [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] of noncitizen households in the U.S. use at least one form of taxpayer-funded welfare, while only about 35 percent of native-born American households are on welfare. This means that noncitizen households use nearly twice as much welfare as native-born American households.

In California — with the largest noncitizen population in the country at almost 11 million or nearly 30 percent of the state’s total population — [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], or 72 percent, of households headed by noncitizens are on at least one form of welfare. Compare that to the findings that only about seven-in-twenty, or 35 percent, of native-born households in California are on welfare.

Preventing Americans from being forced to foot the bill for welfare for newly arrived legal immigrants is hugely popular among U.S. voters. A Rasmussen Reports poll conducted in 2017 revealed that more than six-in-ten voters, [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], said they would support a plan that bans legal immigrants from receiving welfare for at least the first five years of their residency in the country. Roughly 67 percent of swing voters and nearly 60 percent of black Americans said they would support such a plan.

Another 76 percent of U.S. voters said welfare users should be mandated to prove that they are not in the country illegally before being allowed to obtain public benefits, including 74 percent of black Americans, 77 percent of swing voters, and 63 percent of Democrat voters.

Currently, there is an estimated record high of [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] foreign-born residents living in the U.S. This is nearly quadruple the immigrant population in 2000. The vast majority of those arriving in the country every year are low-skilled legal immigrants who compete against working and middle-class Americans for jobs.

    Huzzah!
We should be letting people immigrate to this country who are self reliant.
Not a burden on us like it used to be.

I came to this country at age 17, that was in 1962, with the possible exception of a plane ticket from Miami to New York, I have never taken a cent from the government, including workers compensation.
I worked from age 17 until my retirement at age 66 and this includes a 2 years sting in the US Army were I was deployed to Vietnam, If I was able to do it, so can any other immigrants who arrives to USA shores.

    Amen Brother.
Immigration should strengthen our country, not make it weaker.
There are a lot of good, well educated hard working people all over the world who would love to become an American. Embrace the culture and the language like our ancestors did.
That's who we should make room for. The leaches can stay where they are.

Actually it won't save tax payers money. unless they also do a specific tax cut in conjunction with booting them. If they don't do a specific tax cut, It will simply shift to legit americans that need that service that are currently not able to get it, due to currently occupied units by this group of immigrants. Its basically opening currently occupied units and giving them to the people it was meant for in the first place. People with disabilities, elderly, expecting mothers etc. If they don't shift it to us then you as tax payers are worse off in long run when we who had a legit need were kept off . We become sicker needing more medical care because we are unable to properly care for our selves due to for example homelessness due to lack of housing we can afford.

@friend of 2nd Agree if said immigrant is of good health, but many coming in are not . Many in my former apartment building were of the group who were sick or too old to effectively care for themselves.

agree: only go one step farther make the US official language as English. put an end to the language discrimination once and for all. its only discriminatory to demand english when it not recognized as official language

I am sorry, but I can not agreed to such requirement. For example, when I arrived to the country my English was limited to "you are a boy, she is a girl, that is a table" and that was it! So what I did? At night (I could not do it during the day because I was working my butt off 10 hours a day so I could pay rent and living expenses) I went to school to learn English (I actually gain control of the language when I was drafted, I either learn English or I would not eat).
Since I did not wanted to be a low payed janitor in a factory, I went to school (again, at night) to learn a trade so I could make more money.

I finally retire as a network engineer and ( I am the first one to agreed that I have a strong accent, and definitive not an expert on English grammar ) I am able to communicate sufficiently well to be able to call myself an American.

What I brought with me was the determination of making it in the 'Land Of Opportunity" that was, and still is, America.
