Default McConnell Gets Challenger In Retired Fighter Pilot Amy McGrath

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has a challenger in his upcoming 2020 re-election campaign. Retired Army fighter pilot Amy McGrath officially unveiled her campaign on Tuesday. In her campaign rollout video, McGrath recalls writing a letter to her senator at age 13 about her dreams of becoming a pilot and the challenges women faced of being denied a shot of joining the U.S. military. "He never wrote back," McGrath tells the camera. "I've often wondered how many other people did Mitch McConnell never take the time to write back or even think about."

The Democrat, in her 3-minute-long appeal, features Kentuckians who also felt passed over by McConnell's conservative policies, claiming the longtime senator has effectively turned Washington into "a place where ideals go to die."

"Everything that's wrong in Washington had to start some place. How did it come to this, that even within our own families we can't talk to each other about the leaders of our country anymore without anger and blame? Well, that started with this man, who was elected a lifetime ago," McGrath says of McConnell.

The former U.S. Marine Corps Lieutenant Colonel graduated from the Naval Academy to become the first woman in the Marine Corps to fly a combat mission in an F-18 fighter jet. She went on to serve 20 years in the Marines, where she flew 89 combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan, targeting al Qaeda and the Taliban, before retiring and moving back home to Kentucky to raise her family.

McGrath, a staunch military advocate with the campaign slogan "anti-corruption, anti-obstruction, anti-BS," narrowly lost a House race in the state in 2018. Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer and radio host Matt Jones have also been rumored to be considered as potential challengers to McConnell.

As much as McConnell is about equal to Biden, we do not need another Democrat - who WILL cave in to the Socialist left agenda -in the Senate

Just pickin' a knit, but what is it "jernalist", retired Army fighter pilot or former Marine Corp Lieutenant Colonel? Jernalists and MSN. Go figure.

Mitch does need replacement. Allow another pig to insert their snout on the "swamp trough". But, in fairness, everything that's wrong in Washington D.C. didn't start with McConnell. We all know he is just carrying on the corrupt traditions while being arrogant and disconnected. His wife is otherwise using insider connections to enrich her, Mitch and her family's shipping interests.

As does Pelosi, Kerry, Clinton, etc. They ALL are corrupt - both sides.

I sorta stopped at "Army fighter pilot". Haven't been any of those since Korea. Still trying to get my head wrapped around anyone serving in the Military being a Democrat.

"Still trying to get my head wrapped around anyone serving in the Military being a Democrat."

It is odd to comprehend at times. the American "culture" has changed immensely, if you didn't notice.

Mitch McConnell needs to go, one way or another. He killed the National Reciprocity Act and the Hearing Protection Act by never allowing a vote on either bill. I would prefer a Republican take him out in KY's primary election, but if a democrat has to beat him in the general election, so be it.

McConnell needs to go, but not to have a democrat replace him. Even if that democrat says that they are conservative and lover the military.
They will be absorbed into the Borg and assimilate or no campaign funds for reelection.

    Trump Rips McConnell's Dem Challenger

    Solange Reyner
    09 July 2019

President Donald Trump on Tuesday criticized Mitch McConnell's new 2020 Democratic Senate challenger and praised the Senate Majority Leader.

"Democrats are coming after our great Kentucky Senator, Mitch McConnell, with someone who compared my election to September 11th," Trump said of Amy McGrath.

"Why would Kentucky ever think of giving up the most powerful position in Congress, the Senate Majority Leader, for a freshman Senator with little power in what will hopefully be the minority party. We need Mitch in the Senate to Keep America Great!!"

McGrath, a former fighter pilot, in a three-minute video released Tuesday said McConnell has "bit by bit, year by year, turned Washington into something we all despise."

"I'm running for Senate because it shouldn't be like this," McGrath added.

    McConnell's team welcomed the challenge.

"Amy McGrath lost her only race in a Democratic wave election because she is an extreme liberal who is far out of touch with Kentuckians," said McConnell campaign manager Kevin Golden. "Comparing President Trump's election to 9/11, endorsing a government takeover of healthcare, and calling the wall 'stupid' is a heckuva platform that we will be delighted to discuss over the next 16 months."

Being a career military "patriot" doesn't necessarily confer intelligence or personality appeal to anyone. John McCain was undoubtedly a military hero and patriot. Then he became a politician.
