Oh please, let it be so..................
He is set to announce today at 4:30pm PST
Fred announced, it's official. Let's hope he can catch Rudy Tooty.
Well here's a new one:
Because of the Law &Order reruns, he can't offically announce until after Sept 1.
After that they will take his episodes out of the line-up and there will be no "Equal Time" violations.
So his anouncement today was to announce he will announce his candicay on Sept 6.
Only problem I see with Fred is that he "has" waited so long..... Hope he can get the word out.
OK, so I'm either uninformed or just not real bright. I like Mr. Thompson from what little I've seen and heard of him. He's probably every bit the conservative everyone says he is. But exactly what is it that puts him near the top of the charts as a candidate for the nomination? What achievement can he point to? When did he give a speech with the moral and political importance of the "Brandenburg Gate" speech? How does he propose to re-ignite the love of country and dedication to ridding the world of islamist fascism that so many Americans felt after 9/11? How will he get the world to work with us in that endeavor instead of sneering at us?
The whole field really stinks, in my opinion. We have wannbees and never-weres. I respect what Rudy did after 9/11 but fail to see where another northeast liberal is going to save the conservative movement. Any one candidate probably has one or two good ideas, but there is nothing out there that is going to stand up against the Klintoon Machine, come November 2008.
The only guy I could even think of getting behind would be Newt Gingrich. Yeah, I know about his baggage, but for God's sake, who else has a proven record of leadership and unassailable conservative credentials? Don't even talk to me about Rep. Paul. Tommy Thompson was more electable and at least he was smart enough to get out of the race when he saw the handwriting on the wall.

The democrats would have strokes if Newt stepped up and became a candidate, since he is sometimes shrill and brash like they are, it scares them silly. Republicans need to just laugh, ignore their feeble cries to resign, etc and move forward. They ignore all rules and laws so why should the Republican side worry about what they say or do.
