I'm on two different Photo Forums... and there always was and always will be, debate, over who offers the best brand camera.... Ive been on these forums for many years... It's such a waste of bandwidth to debate the best camera brand, when there are so many good things about photography in general.. AI good photo can be composed and captured with a 5 dollar throw away camera, if you are a real photographer. AS I have said for many years, owning good expensive equipment does not make you a good photographer. For the vast majority on line, it only makes them a guy with a lot of expensive equipment...when you see what they capture, its very obvious that they are not a good photographer. I have a lot of very expensive equipment. I'm hardly a good photographer, but I enjoy what I do., when I go in the woods to capture some wild life, I go in there with 15 thousand dollars worth of equipment. This makes me an easy target, in a very isolated area. This is one of the reasons I carry for protection.
For me a Photo forums its all about the sharing of photographs with others from all over the world, and getting a glimps of their every day life.. I have a tag line signature on these forums... " Capturing memories, one at a time." ..
Taking a photo of your child at birth and butting it in the bank to gain interest over the years and 20 years later you go to the bank to retirve that photo, only to find that it is now priceless.

Yeah, I was just kidding. It's like the "9mm vs .45". Well, I wont stand in front either one, but WILL stand in front or behind any camera. I've got close to 25000 images I have shot on my computer. Only a small fraction of that may be considered a good picture. I have two Nikons and two much less expensive cameras. I use them all. I stuck with Nikon because I don't want to learn a new one.

These next two were shot with a cheap camera. I consider them to be good pictures. The first one captures "The moment" but it is real grainy (cheap camera)
The second one is a close up of a spray of water leaking from a water hose. Abstract sort of nutty picture, but hey, what can I say?

I agree, the first is a nice composition, but has too much noise...the second is really a nice shot

I had so much money invested in the " A " mount cameras, and lenses, I continued with Sony, and I have not regretted it. I have to admit that it was a hard pill to swallow ( SONY ). I also did not want to learn a new system. This is a shot of some of my stuff. the Rolex ( in the shot ) was put their for a High end watch forum Im on. many people with nice watches are also avid photographers.

    All nice stuff Evil-Twin.

I started out with Canon film slr's in the 70's and don't have any of it left. I even had a Mamiya twin lens 2 &1/4 format camera.

Now, All I got is this stuff:

    D90

    D40

    Lens:

    10-20 wide angle
    50 mm
    18 - 105 mm
    55-200 mm
    55-300 mm

    External flash
    Remote control
    tripods

    And then:

    Finepix s700

    Finepix s1000

The Nikon D90 is by far a superior camera to any of the other ones I have or have had, and now it is obsolete. But it still makes good images.

I have a D-80 also bought that like 15 years ago dropped it once about a month ago screwed up my 18-135 DX lens, the iris inside is all over the inside of the lens. I don't even want to ask how much it will cost to fix it. It's pretty much useless i cant focus with it i get over exposed pictures .

KEH camera has great used stuff. I bought my D40 body from them just not to have to change lenses so often, for 140 dollars. It's like new. They have the lens you broke (if that all it is) from 170.00

Yes fortunately that's all that got screwed, i have another lens 70-300 AF tried it and everything works (did not try the auto stuff since it's an AF) but everything in the body works. i might have to start to look for a replacement it was a useful tool and fun too.
