No helmet required, just hop on and go crash, Tampa has lots of money. All I can think is "bad idea."

Why lawsuits? You decide to take your life in your own hands. that's on YOU

Someone will get hurt, and they will sue. This is 'Merica, that's what you do when you get hurt, sue someone.

We got 'em in downtown Sacramento. The biggest problem is, people leave them anywhere when they get to where they're going. This leads to a clutter on sidewalks. Next biggest problem is, pedestrians getting struck from behind. These are the same problems with 'red bikes' (rental bicycles).

Over all it's a bad idea in America. We have too many irresponsible "free-spirits and rebels" who have ruined these businesses and littered sidewalks, alleys, roadways, streams, lakes, rivers, parking-lots, etc. when they abandon and trash these scooters. Injuries to pedestrians and even automobiles have been encountered too often. This "business model/customer behavior" relationship or arrangement has been a disaster in many cities already in reports filed from over a years time. Why the Tampa city council idiots would even allow this to take place, given other cities experiences, is beyond understanding.

This "scooter rental business" might flourish in quaint villages and some cities in Europe. But it seems destined to failure wherever tried in America.

Florida does NOT require a helmet for ANY motorbike, so no biggie. Lots of college kids ride the $750 Chinese things that only go 35mph max - not allowed on major highways - with no issues. Used to see a lot of mopeds as well, but most of them stayed in the bike lane by the shoulder.

True, I never wear a helmet. But I still say, there will be people suing the city. I just think it's a bad idea. Walk, it's better for you.

As in the movie where the big boat always sinks, this story has a predictable outcome, as well.
