I have being buying ammo at Walmart, because is close to home, prices were reasonable and it was convenient. If Walmart won't sale ammo at its stores, then I have the only excuse I had to visit Walmart, I do not care to buy they cheaply made Chines products.

discontinue all sales of handgun ammunition and sales of short-barrel rifle ammunition .....Well being short barrel rifles are banned in NY we should be ok except for the lack of pistol ammo. I rarely buy ammo anyway and when i did buy it from walmart it was .22's but it's been over a years since i bought any there.

Just what does this mean? In my state, I am authorized by the constitution to open carry, which the police need to follow and enforce.

  • "It’s also asking shoppers to no longer openly carry firearms in stores, in states where “open carry” is allowed, unless they are authorized law enforcement officers."

I don't go to Walmart to buy ammo, sometimes I just stop and buy a box when passing the sporting section if my allowance permits it. That's how I have bough most of my ammo. I don't have the cash to buy bulk, and the lgs marks it up pretty high. I'm sorry to see them stop selling ammo, and it won'r stop someone who wants to shoot up a Walmart.

I would think that an 'authorized enforcement officer' is a sworn member of law enforcement or an on-duty armed security officer.

'Course, this entire thing is nothing more than virtue signaling by WalMart. Thus, the timing of their widely covered announcement.

I was trying to hit local Walmarts I read on a local board that that were clearing out some knives. Maybe they'll be clearing out ammo soon. I'm sure if they do it'll be gone before I get there.

They ask you not to open carry. Concealed is okay and not a problem for me. The fact that they are also stopping sales of the evil assault weapon bothers me although understandable in light of what recently happened.

it was bound to happen at wallyworld and will happen elsewhere.......it might be influenced because of mass murder.....or it might be influenced because of particular open carry idiots like the one at the Missourri walmart that decided to ninja-up and go shopping with a rifle and pistol and tactical vest in wallmart a few days after el paso to test the political waters on walmart's policy because he did not like their ammo policy.....or so he claims....

i view such as nothing more than extremism by the far-right fringes of the 2A......in a time when show-boating can have a very negative influence.

rambo vs fudd in the gun owning community........and instead of being one we will fracture....middle ground will disappear within the gun community as sides are chosen with the "your are with us or against us" argument......

the choices will be "in your face" vs common sense........carrying an AR into wallmart to shop is in your face....

now let the cries of Fudd commence!!!!!!!

I never understood the whole walking around with a AR on your back in public, maybe it's me but i just don't get it.

They are called, "attention whores." Just because someone CAN do something doesn't mean they SHOULD.

That applies to the kid who wanted to wear a certain aggressive gun T-shirt to class, and "2A auditors" who walk around town with long guns ostensibly to see if they are challenged, but in reality to monetize their YouTube channel and the more chaos they cause, the better.

People like that cause headaches for we who are responsible gun owners.

I have 2 Walmarts within a 12 minute drive. They have never had ammo I wanted besides BBs. I do buy gun cleaning stuff, CO2 canisters (for air guns), hearing aid batteries, and a few odds and ends. Most of the ammo I can't find at a gun shop (.38 special full wadcutter) I get on-line. It appears that gun retailers only sell ammo for home defense and hunting. Not much for bullseye target shooters.

There is no longer a good reason to shop at Wally Mart. Hopefully other gun owners will feel the same way.

still will shop at our baby walmart..........best price on motor oil by the jug and filters around.........

probably the only ammo i have bought in the past couple of years from wallyworld has been rimfire. Absolutely hate their promo 12 and 20 ga dove season special ammo......and the 16 ga is too high.

AA is usually priced right....when they have it. Just about the best price in the county is the vanilla remington cor-lokt ammo like 30-30 and 3006..

to get better pricing means a 90 mile round trip to the big city.

WalMart “partners” with Everytown for Gun Safety and Michael Bloomberg

WalMart “partners” with Everytown for Gun Safety and Michael Bloomberg to advance gun ban agenda
https://tennesseefirearms.com/2019/...-michael-bloomberg-to-advance-gun-ban-agenda/

Tennessee Firearms Association wants to make sure all gun owners and all 600,000+ handgun permit holders in Tennessee are aware of Walmart’s increasing anti-gun stance on your capacity to exercise the right to keep and bear arms which is protected by the United States Constitution.
Even worse – if that is possible – all gun owners should know that WalMart has openly stated that it is now in “partnership” on gun control issues with Everytown for Gun Safety which appears to be one of Michael Bloomberg’s “shell” gun control entities that pushes for sweeping gun bans and Red Flag laws!
At one time, Walmart was seen as a truly “American” store that had no hesitation in supporting your Second Amendment rights. That seems to have eroded as Walmart increasingly adopts policies designed specifically to make it harder for Americans to purchase firearms, to purchase ammunition, to purchase firearms accessories, and even to carry in its stores.
Walmart now proudly proclaims on its own website that it is a “charter member” of the “Responsible Firearms Retailer Partnership” which was co-formed by WalMart, “Everytown for Gun Safety” and Michael Bloomberg’s “Mayors Against Illegal Guns” See, https://corporate.walmart.com/policies
WalMart knows or should know that “Everytown for Gun Safety is an American nonprofit organization which advocates for gun control and against gun violence. Everytown was founded in 2006, combining Mayors Against Illegal Guns and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. Everytown for Gun Safety is largely financed by Michael Bloomberg, who also founded the group.” See, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Everytown_for_Gun_Safety Evertown for Gun Safety is supporting gun control, gun bans, and Red Flag laws across the nation.
So, what is WalMart telling Americans? It is saying it is now in partnership with the gun control fanatic – Michael Bloomberg – and the various corporate shells that he apparently creates to hide his participation in the gun control and gun abatement movement from the public.
WalMart announced on September 3, 2019, an expansion of its anti-gun policies that it has apparently partnered with Michael Bloomberg’s corporate shells to fashion and continuously evolve in an effort to make it harder for Americans to own firearms and acquire ammunition.
WalMart policies largely ban many sporting rifles from being sold in its stores including the immensely popular AR15 and AK47 sporting semi-automatics. WalMart is discontinuing the sale of handguns entirely. It is discontinuing the sale of “high capacity” magazines and certain firearms accessories. It is prohibiting its online retailers from offering these items. It has raised the age to purchase firearms and ammunition in its stores to age 21. It does not sale on a “conditional proceed” background check even though state and federal law allows it. It has already done several of these things.
As of September 3, 2019, it has also announced the following policies which sound not surprisingly to be right out of Everytown and Michael Bloomberg’s likely playbook of ‘how to destroy a constitutional right.’ These policy additions now include:

  • WalMart will no longer sell handgun ammunition at all
  • WalMart will no longer sell ammunition for “short-barrel” rifles including ammunition in calibers.223 and 5.56.
  • WalMart will no longer sell ammunition such as .300 Blackout, 7.62×39 and .224 Valkyrie.
  • WalMart no longer wants citizens who can legally carry in the respective states to carry in their stores if they carry openly.
Tennessee Firearms Association urges gun owners in Tennessee and elsewhere to seriously consider whether your retail dollars should be spent to the profit of WalMart’s increasing gun control agenda and its partnership with individuals and organizations that promote gun control, gun bans, and Red Flag laws. Citizens can and should avoid shopping at retail merchants who openly adopt policies that are knowingly implemented to impair the full and free exercise of rights – real rights – that are actually contained in and protected by the state and federal constitutions.

Walmart giving money to Bloomberg's organization is enough for me.
If they wanted to get out of the ammo selling business that is their business, but to actively support with their money a gun grabbing organization like that, no way.
Heck they are using your money that you spend in that store against you.
Never shopped there, never will. Hopefully millions of Americans will do the same
