    Default Hikers Attacked

Some of us guys used to hike the trail a bit. I never had any problems but I’ve heard stories. My friend Tom, was hiking from Georgia to Maine by himself and had a few run ins. He later teamed up with another solo hiker. One night their camp was being circled by a pack of dogs and this guy pulled a .38 out of his pack. They stayed together for a few hundred miles until my friend finally said he’d done enough at the northern end of Virginia.

Pretty sure i read a story a year or so ago about someone(or more than one person) being murdered on that trail. Not sure if it was a current story when i read it or a old story.

This is a new story. They just reported it on Fox. The sort of things happen because people out there are easy prey and the cops are very far away.

I never hike, we can't even protect ourselves here from... anything, but if I could there's no way I would get in the woods without a gun and ammo, it's just tempting the devil

I got that, was just pointing out it's not the first time this has happened along that trail.

My son is an avid fly fisher and guide. He was fishing a river and there was a homeless camp along the river. He had this guy approach him and as my son says,” you could see in his eyes he had bad intentions “. CCW being illegal in NJ, he pulled out his bear spray, so the guy could see it and looked at the guy. The guy looked at the spray and decided it wasn’t a good idea to get any closer and he went back from where he came.
