I have an abundance of .270 brass and don't have a gun chambered in that caliber anymore so i decided to do something with it.

First a quick annealing

Then run them through the sizing die.

Then hit them with a small chop saw to get most of the neck off. This gave me the most problems because of the cheap harbor freight saw. You really do get what you pay for! had to take it apart once because i thought it stripped a gear but it turns out the arbor is attached o the ring gear and the motor has the pinion. The arbor section isn't even bolted to the machine, it's just pressed(i use that term loosely) in so tightening the blade too much can pull the ring gear away from the pinion. Then i had the blade loosen a couple of times because i was afraid to tighten it too much....sigh, cheap Chinese junk

All trimmed and ready to be loaded. Case in the middle is a factory and the others are from the .270 cases.

Well i do have an abundance of 30-06 brass too but i also have 2 rifles in that caliber so i don't want to waste it so to speak. These .270 cases were just laying around and I'm always getting more from the range too.I did several at first just to see if they would size ok and they sized surprisingly easy. Might try to do some 8mm Mauser next. I also have a .280 i could use more brass for as well but that's a easy convert.

I do a lot of conversions on the small, .22 and .17 caliber cartridges. I learned to anneal them and save a lot of brass.

I pretty much save any brass that i find. Certain stuff i give to a buddy of mine. He probably has a 1000 or so .308 from me by now. other stuff i just save in containers until i buy a gun that fits them or someone else that needs it. 40's are about the only thing i don't save and get tossed in the scrap bucket. Can't seem to give it away.

I’m alway converting loaded brass in to empty brass. Lol. I save most of my brass and almost never pick up range brass. My club has too many reloaders. I need 45 Colt. I’ve got lots of 9mm, 45 ACP, 38 spl and 30-06 and I do need some 357. I should go to the state range in PA. They don’t let us shoot anything but .22 at NJ ranges and no handguns at all. This state sucks.

Probably can as they are very similar. Problem with me doing that is i shoot 8mm as well. I just made some 8mm brass from .270 as well. Made 50 and only had one split. It split really bad, from the edge of the neck down past the shoulder so it may have had a defect i didn't see. The other 49 sized out pretty good but certainly a little tougher than the 7.7. Somewhere on the web is a brass conversion chart but i can't seem to find it, anyone have a link? Still have 50 or so 270's plus another 120 or so live ammo to take apart to recycle. Also want to see what i can maybe do with .308 being i get a ton of it.
