Default CCW Orange County, New York Questions

Okay so my and my fiance are both applying for our gun permit/CCW.. we both have clean arrest records.. no reason for denial.. now there are 5(jurisdictions) judges in our country. We haven't moved in together yet so we live about 25 miles apart so that means according to the safety course instructor that my fiance city with a clean record will be handed her permit to buy and CCW all in one shot.. Now in my city I am warned that the permit is definitely going to be handed to me but I will be forced to wait 12-18 months for my CCW.. If I like the instructor said, I get denied my CCW what would be the next move to exercise my right to bear arms, or is my right only (2nd Amendment) to purchase?? Some tell me when you have permit, carry it because it's your right.. legally I am not sure what is my right?

If you are this confused they have succeeded. I just can't believe NY is so off the map regarding the United States, they might as well be in Canada but then again they would steal the first place from Quebec in being the most liberal of all. They do what they want, burn flags wipe their @ with the constitution and amendments, prevent peoples from singing the national anthem wtf is NY doing in the US of A ?

Btw, I'm Canadian and I can tell you right now that you will not have your CC license "legally" if you do not know the corrupt and the elites of that state. Keep us posted.

In this situation does one hire a lawyer and just sue the judge/county? I mean is carry conceal not a right and buying a gun is?? I know how to get around the law with that CC but I personally don't want the hassle, you know..

Nope, one packs his stuff and moves to a free state, far better at a minimal cost. It depends on how you look at your constitution, if it doesn't bother you that your state walks all over it, pick and choose what they want and need from it and toss the rest, you have your place in NY otherwise get out of there. It's noble to stay and fight but places like NY and California are far beyond rescuing as far as individuals are concerned, they need a second civil war to understand. I personally know what it is to live in a country where "democracy" wins on common horse sense and in my situation I can't do anything but shut up and put up with it but if you can, I don't know how old you are or what your aubligations are, sometimes you just can't but my suggestion is to pick yourself a free state. Not just for the CC thing but to be at peace with yourself, and start over there if you respect your country cause they sure don't.

You sound like you are young enough to change jobs and locations. If you don't want to leave the state, then become a local law enforcement and carry whatever you want.

Well what I believe and what the powers that be believe are two different things. In most states you are right. Owning a gun is a right. Carrying that gun is not a right. That is why most states get away with requiring a permit to CC. If it were a right they could not demand a permit. Sad but true.

This is a bad move. As onerous as the law is you must always obey that law. " Getting around it " is a bad idea. I don't know the laws for your state but I do know that breaking them can lead to you loosing your right to own a gun at all at worst. At best it will guarantee that you NEVER see your CCP.

Fight to change the laws, You do that with your vote and with you mouth. Till then there are quite a few gun friendly states you can choose from. I'm sure we could find a place for you here in Pennsylvania.

The problem with NY (besides the obvious) is that every county has different rules for the pistol permits and many town or cities within those counties have other rules as well. I live way north of you in Clinton co. It's very rural and fairly gun friendly up here and it took me 9 months to get my permit through the state police. Had i lived in the Plattsburgh city limits the city police would have done it in half the time from what i hear. The judge in this county puts restrictions like you can only carry when hunting, fishing, trapping or going target shooting.....thankfully i target shoot almost on a daily basis....
    Good luck!

Pennsylvania is only 30 mins away and love that state. Definitely has been a thought of ours that's for sure! I know this spring/summer we will buy our permits for the year and spend all our time at Pennsylvania ranges instead of ny.. Pennsylvania! I was raised in mostly Kentucky and for a few years in Georgia and Pennsylvania reminds me of the south so much!
