Default Tonight On FRONTLINE: "NRA Under Fire"

Just received an e-mail reminder from FRONTLINE about tonight's broadcast:

For years, the National Rifle Association wielded its political power to dominate America’s conversation about gun rights and gun control — outlasting and overpowering the calls for change that followed mass shooting after mass shooting, from Columbine to Newtown to Charleston.

But even as the coronavirus crisis sparks a run on firearms, the once-unrivaled organization is facing both internal strife and a rising external threat: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], whose gun-control advocacy has motivated a groundswell of politicians willing to take on the NRA.

“We didn’t want it to end here,” Ryan Deitsch, who lost 14 of his classmates in the Parkland massacre, tells FRONTLINE in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] “We wanted to make sure that it wasn’t just forgotten about. We wanted to make sure the story was still being told.”

Tonight, in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], FRONTLINE investigates the status of America’s gun debate — and why the organization that has prevailed for so long is now under attack on all sides.

Building on FRONTLINE's 2015 look at the NRA's history and influence, the documentary examines the NRA's evolution from a group of gun enthusiasts and sportsmen with minimal political focus to a powerful lobbying force opposing any perceived infringement of the constitutional right to bear arms.

Produced and directed by Gabrielle Schonder, [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] goes on to investigate how the group aligned with President Donald Trump and his base, why it is facing a raft of new challenges as the 2020 election approaches — and how it is vowing to fight on.

“The threat that is staring us in the face right now with this election is greater than any threat we’ve faced in our lives,” the NRA's longtime leader, Wayne LaPierre, has said.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] premieres tonight at 10/9c [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Don't miss this powerful look at the status of gun politics in America and the NRA’s role. Tune in or stream on PBS, at [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] or on the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ], whose gun-control advocacy has motivated a groundswell of politicians willing to take on the NRA."

"Of course they need to do that, after all, it was the NRA who provided the weapons and the training to the nut case that committed the murders, so the NRA MUST go down."

Typical reaction from a bunch of idiots and traveling companions that are being manipulated by the "elites against guns". Closing the NRA, in their view, will end ALL gun violence.

The fact that the NRA is under internal conflict does not help either, as I have said in other post, the enemy will use such internal discord to attempt to destroy the organization. The NRA MUST put their house in other to be able to continue to effectively fight for our 2nd amendments rights.

Did you notice the size of the building that carried the NRA lettering? What's the rent on that place and how many people work in it? I know appearances can enhance prestige of an organization, but that building - while housing the NRA Museum, is just a bit much, in my opinion. But at least it matches Wayne's wardrobe allowance and salary.

The "high schoolers" are real jokes, especially "carrot-top", Hogg-boi, and buzzcut lesbian girl. They should be demonstrating against the "parents" who raise them, but who abandon them to external forces without any defenses in the schools. Parents avoiding responsibility for their children's safety and relying on a corrupt police department and FBI, while transferring the blame for consequences to the NRA. Unbelievable.
