Ability to own replica guns in NYC?

I was curious about whether or not it's legal to own a non-firing replica rifle in new york city (specifically in regards to ww1 and ww2). I've read some people say that all replicas are illegal and others say that only replicas of post 1889 weapons are illegal, and I'd like to get it cleared up. Also, this is my first post on this forum and I don't really know where to put this, so apologies if this is in the wrong section.

Replicas and deactivated guns are like hammers and you can do as much damage with one. Problem is if you have one it doesn't come with a 4X8 neon sign that says it is. So where they become dangerous to you, is when the authorities sees it/them. In NY city where guns are even less allowed than in Canada my advice is... you better ask the ones who might shoot you if for some reason they have to break in to your home and see guns hanging on the walls, my guess is they will not ask you if they're replicas or deactivated, they will be ready to face an armed man.
So yeah you "MIGHT" (I don't know NY laws but this comes from good'ol horse sense) need some kind of license so the police knows when they punch in your name or addy that you ONLY have replicas or deactivated guns.

I'm really not sure what the laws say but here is one example of a place that wont sell a dummy MP-40 machine gun replica to NY along with a bunch of other states but under one of the black powder gun i seen no restrictions. Sometimes companies just don't want to be bothered "just in case" regardless of what the actual laws are though so you should research it more. I'm pretty sure i seen some that would ship to NY recently but don't remember where i seen it. I'm almost positive it was a Thompson sub machine gun too.

Oh and even if you can legally own them there may be laws about transporting, carrying etc. If they are legal it also does not mean you wont get cuffed and stuffed in the right circumstances only to have to prove yourself innocent. Don't think they will do a field test on the spot to see if it;s a dummy gun.

You'd even be better off anywhere in Canada lolll

Or even somewhere upstate.

Even with the Unsafe Act in place, most of the rest of NY, who BTW, made resolutions calling for it's repeal, shortly after it was passed, disagree with many of the gun control laws in NY, most of which they(We, when I was still there) live with.

I believe all states with stupid gun laws comes from their big cities. Cities and suburbs are the nest of a lot of stupid liberal peoples, the bigger the city the bigger their voice when it comes to stupid things. Same goes up here, Quebec isn't that bad if you take away Montreal and Quebec city. Ontario is literally governed/dictatored < don't think it's a word by Toronto and Ottawa nest of the worst libtards in Canada
