Try Mark Kubes, buymilsurp.com, in Largo, Florida, down by St. Petersburg.

thanks for your comments agedwarrior, coalcracker, russ. i'll continue my search for a firing pin spring... going to a gun show next week. maybe somebody has a bucket of parts.
if no luck, i may try agedwarrior's suggestion... make my own spring... i'm thinking about using a simple straight spring with correct compression for the firing pin, and then welding some other type of spring leaf to the underside of the firing pin / cartridge indicator cover... which would apply some downward pressure on the on the cartridge indicator. it's not exactly original equipment but it would probably work, and it could be removed if i ever find the correct firing pin spring.

i will post a couple new pictures in a few minutes to show what i've done.
the 1st shows a my p38 with loose parts parts versus a friends p38 with the correct firing pin spring installed (zoom in to see where it overlaps the cartridge indicator).
the 2nd shows my p38 assembled (zoom in to see where my purchased firing pin spring it overlaps the cartridge indicator).
there's no way i can bend my purchased firing pin spring to the correct shape without breaking it.
i think this will work for limited shooting, if the cartridge indicator doesn't twist too much.

Have you called e-gunparts? They have a lot of stuff not on their website. Might be worth a call.
