Here is a Savage 110 that I refinished recently, it wasn't heavily pitted, just small rust spots and some worn bluing from field use.
I polished the barrel to a gloss shine, then gave the bolt handle and receiver a matte finish. I think it turned out pretty good

That is a NICE blue job. Looks good. Something that pretty needs a walnut stock.
