Just kidding.... Most people I'm acquainted with are aware I'm into guns and hunting and I often get asked some crazy questions. Usually from the ones who's gun knowledge comes exclusively from Bruce Willis movies. What's the craziest gun question you've ever been asked?

Someone asked me recently if I have ever taken my Glock onto an airplane since "metal detectors won't pick them up". LOL

I was once asked If Dirty Harry went hunting with his "worlds most powerful handgun could he legally hunt rabbits with it" ? Guy who asked got mad when I couldn't stop laughing. To answer your original question I'd prefer to use a Ma Deuce.

I was coming in from the range one day and packing my .44 mag lever gun and had my .41 mag Ruger and a young lady asked me as serious as all get out--" can I shoot like Angelina Jolie in that movie where the bullets turn corners"? I said after chuckling no-- thats special effects. She asked if you could special order "special effects" as an option.???? I really did not know how to answer her I was so shocked at her seriousness. LOL I finally said they discontinued it. As for tires, I figure a well placed shot from my .45-70 govt. would do the trick. Provided it wasn`t around a corner cause it don`t have the "special effects" option.

Can you stop bullets by sticking your finger in the barrel? and Can you dodge bullets like they do in the matrix? The first my 3 year-old son this is understandable I did explain you can`t and you could hurt both parties if you try...The second my 12 year old son (obviously I`ve been failing my duties there) but I did explain aint no way your gonna duck a round

If trying to shoot out a tire I would be very concerned that my bullet would bounce back and take out my eye, or worse.

I believe I'd rely on a 20mm, or even a .30 cal, minigun to take out rolling tires.

Without arguing the 'good sense' aspect of shooting tires, I'd opt for a repeating 12 gauge shotgun and 00 buckshot. But I'm old fashioned.

Silly questions? Having done twenty-eight years as a Federal lawman, yes...

My sister, upon finding out I carried a gun off duty asked me, very confidentially of course, if I 'really' worked for the CIA.

Then there are all the "Is that a real gun?" and "Is it loaded?" questions. I usually tried to explain the futility of appearing armed while not being armed. Most got it.

Then there was the British gentleman who asked me why it was I was not armed. At the time - prior to 11 September 2001 - 'junior' troops did not carry sidearms. However, I looked him in the eye and deadpanned, "I filled my quota this week."

I still feel bad about that.

I'm not really a professional gunfighter, but I used to play one in reality.

Want goofy questions? Work armored trucking. I lost count of people who asked if they "could help me carry the load", could I put it in there car instead, and the best one - "Got any free samples?" I wanted to carry pennies to toss at them, but the boss said no. I had one person tell me very confidently that she KNEW we weren't allowed to carry loaded guns. Another spoke with equal assuredness that we weren't allowed to carry real sidearms at all. Being someone young and cocky at the time, I explained to that individual that there was indeed, one certain way to find out once and for all - that person quickly remembered an appointment in another state.
Best gun for tires? Plasma rifle, in the 40 megawatt range. ;)
