Most of what I found about sharkskin being used as armor was from the bronz age. I found a few articles written about shark skin and armor but they only spoke about it for a couple of sentences, mostly the armor of choice then was rhinoseros hide. The information I received about the sharkskin and armor came from a guy in my Kung FU class (which was along time ago) who had bought some antique weapons and armor (illegal or legal I dont know) which came from china ming dynasty I believe but not sure. Anyhow from what I found from varios sites is that sharkskin doesnt last long in hot climates so there are not many samples around to day. Also shark skin was used more for the palms of gloves and the hilts of swords for extra grip.

    Ok thanks.

    The Wasp Knife
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

I found this knife a while back. One of the things they market it for is bear/shark attack. It uses a 12 gram cO2 in the handle which is released by pressing a button on the hilt, the gas travels through the blade and is released at the tip of the knife. It is not meant to kill necassarily but cause enough pain to deter any further attack and cause retreat. Imagine 12 grams of compressed gas being shot into a body and creating a gas filled absess. Sounds painfull to me

Use a spear gun... maybe even a high powered cross bow with a good head could work.

Using a firearm underwater against sharks is inadvisable.

I found a 12 gauge bangstick worked well when we hunted tiger sharks in the Phillipines
