One of the most exciting product releases in LWRCI company history is finally here. LWRCI announces the release of its first pistol-caliber carbine — the SMG-45. This highly-anticipated SMG model combines the company’s experience on the AR platform with an innovative delayed-blowback/short-recoil operating system to deliver a unique pistol-caliber carbine shooting experience.

Comparing a firearm originally designed in the mid 90’s with a modern offering form one of the more premier manufacturers in the business. It was only a matter of time until someone came along and did it better, and it was to be expected quite frankly. While not a bad design by any means, the UMP also isn’t great my any means either. The recoil impulse is substantial, ergonomics are on the cusp of acceptable for a modern firearm, and it doesn’t particularly excel at much of anything. As much of an HK fanatic, in no way does this surprise, and quite frankly its nice that LWRC revitalized and reimagined the platform. Not only is it adding another contender to the mix of phenomenal PCC’s on the market, but it’s also putting more pressure on HK to bring another PCC of their own to market. See it as a win in almost every aspect. On top of that, it downright looks cool, and the fact that it uses UMP magazines makes a HK nerd giddy.
