I am a Nevada resident and just turned 18 and I would like to conceal carry but the law states that you must be 21 or older and of course I am not. Ive heard that you can use ccw's from different states and Utah has a provisonal permit I believe that 18-20 year olds can get. So my question is to you if I am a nevada resident that is 18 years old can I get an Utah ccw and use it to conceal carry in Nevada even though I am 18? I am very adiment with my protection and feel strongly about this also I have already graduated high school early.

This is a question for the District Justice of your choice. I am from PA and I have no idea at all about Nevada laws other than to say that trying to work around them is a bad idea. We all expect the police to have perfect knowledge of all laws. If they did they would be lawyers not cops. Lawyers make more money and get shot at a lot less.

When you get into the nitty gritty legal hair splitting stuff like this you are most certainly going to run into a cop that is not aware of the subtle nuances of the laws of the two states. This could easily end up with you sitting in a jail cell trying to find a lawyer that understands the gun laws of the two states. You will need him because the DA and the judge may not be aware that what you are doing is completely legal. ( If it is and I sort of doubt it. ) If you happen to get a hard case judge even then you may end up working on an appeal between horizontal wrestling matches with your cell mate Big Pookie. You are an adult now. No Juvie for you.

Sure eventually you will prove your point and get out with all apologies... Maybe. Then instead of paying off student loans you will have legal bills to pay off. Legal debt can be larger than student loans.

You are better off to wait the three years. 21 will come.

I could be wrong here but i think you need a CCW from your home state before you can get one of those out of state CCW permits that many other states recognize. Look through this site and you might find the answer. Handgunlaw.us

I have a Utah CCW permit and an Arizona permit. Nevada recognizes both. Square Target is right. Utah requires a copy of a permit from your home state to get a Utah permit. I just renewed my Utah permit last month and I had to send them a copy of my Arizona permit. (BTW: It's still only $15.00 to renew Utah CCW permits.)

You need to establish residency in the state you get your CCW permit. OR, you could
jump the gun, (pun intended) do something ill-advised, and get arrested. THEN you can
kiss your gun rights goodbye for the rest of your life. There IS NO easy way to responsible
gun ownership, or concealed carry. We don't have any magic back doors here. Neither will
any of us advise you to make any rash decisions or moves.

But thanks, I was wondering when the next "how can I get around the law" thread would pop up.
Sorry, guy, that's not what what we do, or who we are.
