    Can anyone tell me if this is a factory or after market scope, & mount? A friend of mine bought it used.

    No clue but i will say this is the FIRST cap and ball rifle i have seen with a scope.

    That was my buddy's conundrum. I was hoping Sammy would see the thread. He worked a T/C for many years.

    They were putting Malcolm Scopes on Whitworth rifles during the "War Of Northern Aggression" Scopes on muzzle loaders have been around for a while.

    True. I was meaning the newer reproduction cap and ball stuff.

    No factory applied "stuff" there, all aftermarket. Had to be D&T'd to accept any kind of mount.
