Default Harrington and Richardson Model 649

My dand and I used to shoot a .22 revolver in the backyard and was just wondering if anyone knew anything about it. Its an H&R model 649, .22lr, with another cylinder that goes with it. Googling didn't turn up too much. I doubt it's really collectible or anything. I don't care what its worth because I don't plan to sell it, I was just curious about when they were made.

I remember a lot of those H&R revolvers around in the 1960-70's. Very inexpensive revolvers, but were ok to plink with. I doubt if they have much value, unless is something very unusual.

    GB had this thread listed:

    Blue Book of gun values.
    22/22mag convertible,Western style,double action, 5.5 or 7.5" barrel Mfg. from 1976 -1985. Prices as such 100% = $250 98%= 225, 95%=175 90%= 150 80%= 125 70%=100 60%= 90. You can also drop the value since your revolver is missing one of the original cylinders.
Info thanks to blue book, Bill Goforth, descriptions, Jim Hauff, pricing

H&R brought them out to compete with the Ruger Single-Six which sold like hot cakes back in the day. They were not as well made but they were still fun to plink around with. I see them at gun shows for under $100 sometimes.

Previous manufacturer located in Gardner, MA - formerly from Worcester, MA. Successors to Wesson & Harrington, manufactured from 1871 until January 24, 1986. H & R 1871, LLC was formed during 1991 (an entirely different company, see listing in the front of this section). H & R 1871, LLC is not responsible for the warranties or safety of older pre-1986 H & R firearms.A manufacturer of utilitarian firearms for over 115 years, H & R ceased operation on January 24, 1986. Even though new manufacture (under H & R 1871, LLC) is utilizing the H & R trademark, the discontinuance of older models in either NIB or mint condition may command slight asking premiums, but probably will not affect values on those handguns only recently discontinued. Most H & R firearms are still purchased for their shooting value rather than collecting potential.
Please refer to H & R listing in the Serialization section for alphabetical suffix information on how to determine year of manufacture for most H & R firearms between 1940-1982.
The author would like to thank Mr. W.E. "Bill" Goforth and Mr. Jim Hauff for providing pricing and information on many of the H&R models.

Thanks for the information, its a fun plinker for sure, one that I'll keep around, just interesting to see the range of dates. Monetary worth is about what I expected it to be.
