Default Best Red Dot For .44 mag?

I decided to try a red dot scope on my Ruger Redhawk .44 mag and went with a NC Star cheapie just to see what it would do. It looked real good until I fired the first shot then the thing came unglued. The laser quit and the objective glass is now rattling around in the tube. HA HA, oh well a cheap lesson learned. I still like the idea of having a red dot on my pistol, I just wanted to know where to start and if anyone has had any luck with them and what kind they use / recommend. Thanks!

About 2 weeks ago I bought a Millett red dot from Midway for my .44 Mag Super Blackhawk. Best thing I ever did!

It is rated as being able to stand heavy recoil. It didn't take but about 8 rounds to zero it.

I back the 5.5 inch target out to 50 yds and easily put all 6 bullets in the 5.5 black. 3 of them could be covered buy one of thes little round "repair" stickers.

I would highly recommend this Millet.

I found my preorder notes and :

    The Millet is part # 459296 - $74.99
The base used to mount (without the rings, I already had them) it to the SBH is 359216 - $34.99

    Hope this helps.

I have used an aimpoint for many years on other calibers and have found it to be reliable.

When I had my super Redhawk Ruger 44 I had a nice Leupold scope on it and it was a fun shooter.

I like the reviews on the Aimpoint scopes, but I'll have to save up a little longer for one of those. As long as I can get one that has a clear picture and holds zero, I'll be happy.

I set mine several years ago and have never had to readjust it. But its a range gun and not out in the woods getting banged around. Aimpoint is worth the bucks.

Has anyone tried a holographic sight on a revolver? That might be real nice too.

The problem is finding one with a Ruger mount. You're right, they are great sights.

How'd it work out. Mine, 25 mag rounds later, is still dead on.
