Default Price check: used keltec pf9

I'm not sure how well these hold their value, but I paid 289.99+ tax back on dec.31. I've only put 100 rounds through it. No sratches or rust. Would like to know what would be a descent sale price for this. My local gun store offered me 160 trade in. Any input would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

It will for sure go for less if you try and take it to a gun shop. They will usually pay about 1/3rd the price. Try gunbroker and do a little research on how much they are going for in "like new" condition. It might be a little more of a problem, but it will usually get you more money in the long run.

And, if you have any time, take some time to introduce yourself on the new member's section =)

I would try and sell it outright, that is the best you are going to do. I think $160 may be a little low, but not by much. Should be able to get over $250. for it selling it privately.

Also depends on your location, as the retail price varies pretty significantly from region to region depending on the type of gun, demand, local laws, etc...

My guess would be somewhere within $100 of what you paid.

Why do you want to get rid of it already? Kel-Tecs are notoriously unreliable out of the box. They can be "fixed" very easily. Check out KTOG.com for info on making them more reliable.

To say that KT's are not reliable out of the box is not true. They are fine. It''s not to say they can't be made better though. If you have a problem with a KT, they will fix it with no questions asked. KTOG is not a KT affiliated site, it is just views by people that may or may not even own one, take it for what it's worth. I would put KT up against any manufacturer as far as reliability and customer service, no matter what anybody says.

The problem with selling a used one is that here, they are only $265 new. It just depends on where you try to sell them as to what you can get for it.

I spent $249 on mine, brand new at a gun show.

I would say that $160 is an OK price. But a Price for a used one Is from $200-$230. I would say Try to at least get $200 out of it. But it might be a little bit of trouble. Since people want to pay the cheapest price.

not a dime less than $200. and i have not had a jam yet out of my pf-9. my friend did when he limp wristed it, so i'm gonna chalk up any reliabilty issues to the user

Kel Tecs are not unreliable - I've owned two that don't/ haven't ever stuttered, and I know quite a few other club members that have them with the same experience. As to gun shop prices - 1/3 of what they're worth???? - that would make the retail price on that piece 3 x 160 or $480???? Gotta watch your numbers. Usually a gun shop will offer 60 to 70% of what the dealer thinks he can sell at retail - generally they try to hit 25% GROSS profit, can't always do that with the new ones because of competition, so most try to make a bit on the used ones. From my experience here in Eastern PA - I'd say a private sale at $225 to $250 would be reasonable if the gun is still in excellent condition and you have all the papers and the box.
