    Default high end pistols

ive been reading about some very high price 1911s and was curious if the extra money makes a visible difference to your shooting .i have been told by some very experienced military people that pistols are no good over 20yds so what difference does the extra 2k make ?

You are asking a dangerous question Stu. Like all "professional" equipment, the top end stuff offers a few percent better performance at best, at a very high price. Beyond bragging rights, the difference in holes on the paper is very small. But to answer your question directly and literally, the only thing that will make you a better shooter is practice, practice, practice.

Those "very experienced military people" are wrong. Even the "baddest" BG will keep his head down when bullets are flying around. This does not take into consideration what targets an experienced handgun shooter can hit at extended ranges.

As to added features and expense. Yup, they make a difference. You, at your handgun experience level, may not be able to discern, or to take advantage of, these differences but they exist.

I think the extra money go into alot of things that are tough to notice at first glance. There are alot of fit and finish things and reliability upgrades for that extra money.

As far as a pistol not being good beyond 20 yards... yeah right!

I can't say anything better than the fellow members shared...except I'll add one thing:
20-25 yards is so crap! That is a myth through and through. I hear that from so many people. I submit that people limit themselves by what they choose to believe. When I take my friends to a pit and start them cracking clay pigeons at 100 yards, they think that the bullet gods blessed them. When they go back and do it again, they start believing.
I wish that everyone who thinks that their pistol or revolver limits them, would go out and challenge themselves.
Elmer Kieth. Great man and shooter wrote about long range handgunning. 100 yards is only the beginning.
My latest is the Taurus 24/7 45. I've shot 400 rounds now and not a bump in the road. It was $359 new.
I'm a bargain hunter. I don't buy crap. But I am not sold by a beautiful finish or fancy grips. A pistol is a tool to me. Function and no reflection are must-haves to me.
When you look at the Kimbers for TOOOOO much money(unless money isn't a matter) and then see what a Taurus PT1911 comes with and will do...well....you can sure spend lots of money and not shoot any better.
When my blueing wears through, I'll reblue it. I don't know what I'd do if I scratched a Kimber. Cry? I'd be afraid to use it.

Somebody is jerking your chain. Most all modern pistol shoot better than the Joe Six-pack buying them can shoot.

That U-tube was a crock for sure. There was so many errors in it he had to be smoking something when he made it.

Just remember one thing about shooting. "It's the Indian more than the arrow that makes the difference."

About the only things that video proved is the author's ignorance and inexperience.
