    Default 10/22 modding

I'm wanting to do some mods on mine and my gf's 10/22's. Mine is about 3 years old and a couple thousand rounds through it and hers is brand new and I'm wanting to change a few things on it to make It eaiser for her. Mine I'm wanting to tune it up for some better accuracy and lighten the trigger pull. And for both rifles I'm wanting to do the auto bolt release, extended charging handle, and extended mag release. I've been looking around and looked at different brands and Im getting mixed reviews on most of what I'm seing. What would be a good charging handle, auto release and mag release to go with. Also what should i go with to lighten the trigger pull on mine and maybe get some more accuracy out of it. Since Ive had mine its never been a tack driver and Im wanting to tighten up the grouping. Both guns will be used mostly for doing some plinking around the house and hunting. I'm a machinist for a machine tool company and from looking at the YouTube videos I'm pretty confident I can do the mods myself just need input on which products to go with. Thanks for any help in advance.

As far as the trigger I would go with a Timney or a Kidd as they are adjustable when tactical innovations are not, Volquartsen has the auto releases on clearance right now and the tactical innovations charging handles are great, also get a bolt buffer and send the bolt to get headspaced (it makes a big difference) and of course the choice of optics is very important as well, I would also think of a spring and rod kit from volquartsen...good luck!

If you go all out the only thing original is the action.

I love the promag magazine release and the power custom extended titanium charging handle on mine. I have 3 1022s and they are all equipped with those parts. I haven't done a trigger yet though, but I plan on doing the KIDD drop in trigger/hammer when I do. I don't really want to spend 200-300 dollars on a trigger, because I will have to do it 3 times!
If you know how many guns you have, you dont have enough!!

Gun control is being able to hit your target, over and over!

If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.

My son started with the Timmey trigger, that led to a Green Mountain barrel, then a stock all which added about $500 to the original action. I did get his discarded parts, never know when you might need a brand new used spare part. LOL I forgot he also added a Leupold Scope.

thanks for the input guys, my paycheck wouldnt allow me to buy alot this week having to go pickup the 10/22 im getting for my girlfriend and paying for it. I ended up ordering a volquartsen auto release, a recoil buffer that said is good for 5000 rounds which would take a while for her to shoot 5000 rounds, and the ruger bx-25 mag. If anyone is wanting a bx-25 mag midway has them on-sale for 21 bucks. Next paycheck im gonna get the charging handle and optic for my gf's rifle and mag release, buffer, and auto release for my 10/22.

Im probably gonna install the buffer and bolt release on my gf's gun next week when they come in. I looked on youtube and the buffer doesnt look like it would take more than 5 mins to put it in but is there anything i need to watch out for on installing the auto release?

well i got the recoil buffer and auto bolt release installed on my gf's gun and gave it to her for Christmas. She loves it and is a pretty good shot with it. Ive still not gotten to order any mods for mine but im gonna try to order a bedding kit for both of them soon and trigger parts for mine

    Here is hers

and Christmas day me and her done some shooting and sighted the scope in on her 10/22 and after we got it dialed in here is what she done with 75 rounds of winchester high velocity ammo at around 40 yards

I also bought some match grade ammo to try out. I got RWS, Lapua, Eley, Augila, and Wolf to try out. and here is what my factory 10/22 did with the Lapua Polar Biathalon match ammo at around 60 yards with wind. Can cover the 5 shots with a quarter.
