Are there any 6.5 mm rifle nuts out there. I passed down my 2 swedes to my 2 oldest sons. I have been hankering for another ever since then. The 6.5 x 55 round has always amazed me with its accuracy, but the rifles are getting hard to find. I would buy a cg63 if I ran across one. There are a number of .26 caliber rounds out there that i might buy, what do you shootist think? creedmore? too hot? a fad? or is there another round in this caliber that you guys have found that equals the inherent accuracy of the swede that you guys like. This feels like a good discussion. Tell me what you think.
I`m looking at the 6.5 spl by remington myself although I`ve entertained the creedmore thought also
I am just wondering if the Creedmore is going to be a barrel burner, also will the round become popular or go the way of so many 6.5 rounds. at least 6.5 swede ammo is loaded by all the major manufacturers.
I have several rifles chambered in 6.5x55mm Swede. None of them are for sale. If I believe I'll need more oomph than the Swede can deliver I'll go with a more powerful caliber (say, a 7mm Rem Mag).
The difference between a Socialist and a Communist is that the Socialist doesn't have all the guns yet.
If you reload ammo will never be a real problem unless you live to be well over 100 years old. Barrel burner does not seem to be the case.
I have been thinking of starting to reload. I have a lot of friends who already do. The creedmore has my attention i will probably get one eventually.
I have a 7mm.mag. and I love it. But I have always been in love with the Swede. I have owned Three, and all of them have been amazing. I do not always need the power of the 7mm. and the accuracy of this round has been proven for decades without question. the 6.5 projectile in the key. so i am now entertaining my next rifle.
I'd go with the swede, only reason to do something else is a serious long range target rifle. If that is the case 6.5X47 Lapua or 6.5 - 284 is the ticket. If its a hunter, stick with the swede! 140 grains Sierra HPBTs are your friend!
I have to agree on the 6.5 x 55 Swede. I use the 140 gn bullet also. It's alot of fun to shoot and so accurate it's unreal.
